Sympathy for Pat and family

Once again I neglected to record the source of this pre-colored image from my stash - maybe TLC?  Please let me know if you recognize it.  I used Spellbinder ovals and circles and some sticker strips to finish the details.

More Thinking of you

This is one of the great vintage images offered at TLC - pre colored which is so helpful for my bad eyes!  I used DP from my stash, and added a metal clip with a rhinestone framed with metal.  I even found ribbon with the same fall colors. I used Spellbinder dies for the ovals and the DP layer.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Thinking of you

I need to replenish my supply of generic thinking of you cards.  I really like this sketch to display verses.  Word Art has such a lovely selection  This has been in my file since late 2014  The sentiment is from my computer. I used the heat gun to frizzle the ribbon ends, and used Labels dies for the "tag".

Happy Birthday, Samantha

This image came from my collection of images - I usually print several at a time.  I still have not learned to label them  and as usual, I do not recall the source.  If you recognize this cute cupcake please let me know so I can give the proper credit. It is pre colored.  The side panel uses 2 patterned papers, and I used gold stickers to create the border.

This is for challenge #229 at the Crafter's Cafe.  You have two weeks to complete your entry, and there are several options:  use a stencil, or Halloween and/or the colors purple, orange and black. As you can see, i used the colors for the Halloween theme.  The sponsor is DeCosse's Dynamite Doodles, and I selected the following to complete my card:
Trick or treat bundle - textured papers - light purple grunge; dark purple grunge;
Trick or treat bundle -  General elements  -  two pumpkins (upper left); green moon face and witch hat;  happy Halloween sentiment
I used Spellbinder dies for the circles, and some ribbon from my endless stash.
I fussy cut the small images - good thing I mounted on white cs, as my macular degeneration is kind of acting up today and I struggled with cutting. I have learned that  mounting on white hides uneven cut edges!  The images are all pre-colored.  I added some Stickles to the sentiment for the shine.

Tool bench for a guy

This is the same image I just used on another card - same image but different etting.  I often print 2 or 3 digis at a time - then promptly add the extras to my stash.  I am going to try to change that  and actually make more than one card at a time!  The image is from Sparkle n Sprinkle, and the rest is made up of items from my stash.  The edges are torn and sponged with chalk.

Happy birthday to our son

Paul, are you really going to be 60? where have the years gone?
He just finished a major remodeling job -the final project of many in their home.  He had to do this evenings and week ends.  I thought about putting a big red X over the tool cart!  (I have used so many hunting and fishing images - time for a change LOL!!!)
The image was a prize from Sparkle n Sprinkle - I think they are now out of business. The letters are from a Cuttebug alphabet die set - probably the first die set I purchased.  The DP pieces are from my endless stash.  The base features a number of stripes to fulfill the sketch.  I sponged the town edges of the image with chalk.

Crafter's Cafe Challenge #227 - School related and/or Tea and Coffee

As you can tell, I selected the school related theme for my Dt card this challenge at the Crafter's Cafe.  I am just not sure that in this day of uncertainty many kids ride bikes to school, but it could be an option!  The bike image is from Morgan's Art World.  You have two weeks to complete this challenge and a chance to win some digis!  I colored the bike with markers, and added various embellishments, including 3 green shiny dots in the top left - hard to see in the photo..  The panel right behind the bike is actually duck tape.  It adds a bit of texture without being bulky. The other layers include papers from my stash.

Z fold for birthdays

These are two cards I made for my sister and sister-in-law.  (The top view is card one and the bottom two views are the two sides of the second card.  The backing is double sided cs, and most of the images are freebies from TLC.   I especially wanted to use the main image of #1 - an ad for a Dometic sewing machine.  My sister has 3 fancy machines, I think, and I thought she would enjoy the humor and vintage feel.  Sorry the photo is not better = I thought I had more - but the card has been sent off so too late to correct!  The main verse says "So far this is the oldest you have ever been, so eat, drink and be merry.."

This freebie printable from TLC is just right for a sympathy card to send to our friend whose wife passed away recently.  It is pre colored.  The sentiment is an old favorite stamp by Paper Inspirations.  I kept the background simple - the color is close to Hunter green.  I added some acrylic dots to tie the images together.

For Anna

This is for our granddaughter who is an elementary teacher.  I know that she really encourage reading so when I saw the TLC image I realized it would be perfect.  Then I found this little pack of  Mary Engelbreit school papers (by Studio8)  on the top of my stack just waiting to be used.  To accommodate the image and the 6x6 papers, I made a square card.  The center part of the DP is embossed with the Cuttlebug happy birthday folder. (FYI - the main layer with the book border is all one piece.)  The bottom strip is a bit of another sheet in this set.
I just realized I missed adding my link to the blogs.  Maybe I can still catch a couple of these challenges!

Crafter's Cafe Challenge #225 ~ Dots and/or Stripes OR I spy with my little Eye something beginning with A

Sketch #165  for Sweet Sketch Wednesday2
The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe features easy-peasy options - dots and/or stripes OR something with A.  Actually, I used all of them for my example.  I chose the pre-colored image called Ambrose Dunderton from Dr Digi, for the letter "A".  I can always use an image for guys!  I also appreciate the availability of pre-colored images.  With my advancing macular degeneration I find it is increasingly difficult to do a decent job of coloring images.  (Monthly shots are helping, but I do not see edges line up straight!!)
I hope you will join us over the next couple of weeks.  You can enter 5 times, entering no more than 11 challenges,  and there is a chance to win some digis.

Hanna's shower

Our grandson and his wife are expecting their first child in November.   just happens to be our first great grandchild.  There will be a shower in a few days, so this is the card which has already been sent off.  They are not revealing the sex, so I tried to make this neutral.  I realize that on the screen the buggy looks blue, but IRL it is purple - a color chosen to go with the bg paper and the brads.  This image has been in my files for a while - credited to Kinda Cute Cards.  I colored with Prismas.  The DP is by Paper Studio, and I used the fancy ovals from Spellbinders to back the fussy cut image.  I think I obtained the jar full of baby brads as pert of a yard sale combo purchase -  I have few baby cards to make so was glad of a chance to use some...including the Hugs.  The strip behind the image is from a roll of wide gold mesh ribbon.

DT card for Crafter's Cafe Challenge #224 - ribbon and lace or Steampunk

The new challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use ribbon and lace, or, if you wish, create something with a Steampunk theme.  I chose this cute image from Sheepski Designs called Smile.  It seems to me that a somewhat feminine design suits this cutie very well!
This image is a digi in black and white.  I enhanced the outline using a moderately wet aqua pen along the ink lines.  The eyes and nose were done with black Twinkling H2O.  The Happy Birthday is embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, and I used a Spellbinder Labels die to cut the background for the image.  The strips are all ribbon from my collection.  Like many of you, I could make a card with this format every day for years and have more than enough ribbon!  The horizontal strip is dark gold lace over black cs.

The Crafter's Cafe challenge #223 ~ Animal and/or ATC

Sweet Sketch Wednesday

The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use an animal theme, and/or create an ATC.  With our temperatures in Phoenix area peaking around 110 this week, I thought maybe this cute p\Penguin on Ice from Eureka ( a sponsor) might cool us off.  (It is available as a digi or a rubber stamp.)  Not sure it is working!!!  I added some sparkle to the ice. and used am embossed background.  Black aBirthday:nd white cards are a favorite of mine.  This may go to our sister-in-law.  Several years ago we took a cruise with hubby's brother and his wife.  We sailed among the icebergs around Antarctica, and took some sightseeing trips in South America that included penguin colonies.  This will be a reminder of this fun trip.
Please join these challenges!
This fortnight we are linking up with Double Trouble

DT card for Challenge #222 ~ Out of this World and/or Patchwork

For the current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe you  have a choice of "Out of this World"  or "Patchwork" - or you can combine them, as I have here.  I figure this Bootastical image from Creative Bug on the Loose is pretty much out of this world.  I used up some bits and pieces of a Halloween paper stack for the Patchwork background. For separation, I tore some of the edges, and added sticker strips for others.  A bit of black ribbon and a Basic Grey acrylic sticker complete the Halloween card.

DT card for Crafter's Cafe challenge 221- masculine

This cute robot could work for a child or adult - I think it works well for some one when the usual car, golf, or fishing don't apply!  The image is called Bob, from Sheepski Design, a sponsor for the current challenge at The Crafter's Cafe The theme this time is boys/men, or rain/sun (weather) ... or both!  I shaded the image by using a wet aqua pen.  This added the touch of color I wanted.  The metallic background embossing is from a folder by Darice, and the sentiment is Sparkle 'n Sprinkle  Die cuts are by Spellbinders.  The horizontal stripe is Washi tape, and the vertical panel uses metallic ribbon.  Though this looks blue, it is actually silver and black.

Crafter's Cafe Challenge #220

The new challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use embossing, or have girls/women as a theme.  I selected girls/women.  The practical reason is that I needed a special graduation card for our granddaughter.  The paper from  DeCosse's Dynamite Doodles, In Flight,  complemented the image from Julia Spiri ~Aviator Cat  I also used the sentiment from the set Nothing is Impossible.  I followed the suggestion of the artist and divided the sentiment - line 2 (Nothing is Impossible) is inside.  Our GD likes her cat, but she will have to leave him behind as she heads for fighter pilot training in a couple of months.  I used Spellbinder dies for the circles.

Crafter's Cafe ~ DT card for May 1

have not posted much recently - I have been spending time at the hospital and a rehab center..my husband fell and broke his hip three weeks ago.  He is progressing ell, but will need a lot of time to recover.  That is not so easy at age 86.
This card is my design team card for the current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe - your creation should have a background you made yourself, and/or use dies or punches.  My background is made with an embossing folder, and I used Labels2 dies by Spellbinder.  The images are from a set provided by Sparkle and Sprinkle.  The main image is a pre-colored digi, and I used a bit of the same image in the black and white form.  The sentiment is one of several from this Spring Floral set.  I added some clear glitter to the flowers - and elsewhere, to be honest.

The Crafter's Cafe challenge - time or traffic lights

The current Crafter's Cafe challenge gives a choice - use time as a theme, or traffic lights as a color choice - red, amber, green.  Or really challenge yourself and combine the two!  I used this image from the sponsor - Scribbles.  I am addicted to cappuccino so it is a natural!  I found the bg paper in my Scribbles folder from a while back.  The middle panel is a piece of packing 'filler".  I have saved some of those hot cup sleeves, but could not locate their hiding place.  I thought this paper gave that look.

Ready for spring

First of all, thoughts and prayers to all who have been experiencing such bad weather and natural disasters, as well as to the families of victims of attacks.  We used to live in Omaha so those images of flooding are especially troubling to us.
This pre-colored image from Beccy's place is a favorite even though I am not a cyclist.  She looks like she is  ready for spring, having so much fun, and is carrying her basket of goodies home from the market, perhaps.  It also gave me an excuse to use a bit of Washi tape that I have had for some time.  I also used favorite oval dies from Spellbinders and two patterned papers.

Feb 15 challenge at the Crafter's Cafe

Lil patch of CaftyFriends
The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use embossing and/or fancy folds - take your pick!  I chose to emboss the background - this time, I embossed both the pink mat and the white layer using a Quick Cutz Vine folder.  The image is the Old Roses Frame  from our sponsor Morgan's Art World.  If you look at the other DT designs you will notice that I flipped the image - I think it works either way!  You will also notice that I am still struggling with coloring due to macular degeneration,  I used Twinkling H2O's for a shiny finish. This is inspired by the song "Red Roses for a Blue Lady".   I hope we see you at the challenge!

Conratulations Ethan and Rachel

This is a non traditional card for our grandson and his fiancee;s wedding. It is meant to mimic the non traditional invitation.   I hope they like it!  The tree is from a long time favorite Stampin' Up set, and the swirls are by Die Namics, Oh, yes, I finally figured out another way to use the Majestic Element ovals by Spellbiinders.  I cut the oval from the patterned paper, and inserted the cut oval back in to the space - the dark green background peeks through enough to show off the intricate design.
