DT card for Crafter's Cafe - tic tac toe

Please join the Crafter's Cafe challenge during the next two weeks - following the tic tac toe challenge - that is tic tac toe with a twist - be sure to use the center square.  since that is Patternrd Paper it should be pretty easy!  My image is called Time Well Spent, and comes from Creative BUg on the Loose - look for this great father-son image under Family Connections.
I colored the image with Prismas.  The DP has fishing lures - they are very subtle and hard to see!
These are the tic-tac-toe squares I completed - nearly all of them!  Diagonals:  white, patterned paper, embossing and yellow, patterned paper, black; also - first column - white, twine, black.

DT card for ATG at QKR Stampede - Gone Fishing - HB, Ethan

Spring time and fishing - they go hand in hand in my family - especially for our son, son-in-law and our grandsons.  I have used this image from QKR Stampede called Gone Fishing.  We hope you will join us at the QKR Stampede weekly challenge - you may add up to 3 entries by 3pm EDT Thursday.  You have a chance to win this or any QKR image. If you use a digi from QKR or Eureka you have another chance to win - 3 images for that!  Take a look here to see what my DT teammates have made to inspire you this week.
This is for my grandson's birthday.  He is a hot shot fireman and spending the summer in Alaska - looking forward to fishing if he ever gets a day off!  I colored the image with Prismas, and used a computer generated sentiment.   I used some fishing DP for the bg and added twine and tiny fish stickers - I am sure he hopes for something bigger!!!

HB, Spence

Seems like in our family birthdays come in groups!  This is for our grandson - just did one for his wife and another for his sister!  The images in my digi file are labelled StampArt but at the moment I cannot locate a web site.  The HB is from a stamp I have had forever!  BG has a couple of fishing DP scraps as well as a scrap of dark brown cs., and I used some mesh from a roll.  I hope you can see the gold strips in the mesh.   It is so difficult to work with but as long as I am satisfied with a sort of uneven look it is fine!

For Terry

The challenge at Art Impressions is to create a card using a slider or otherwise concealed image.  Since I do not have their new slider die, I made do by creating my own slider "frame" which I also paper pierced.  You most likely cannot see the piercing on the screen - nor can you see the true brown color of the Washi tape strips!   Oh, well...   It was after I made my choices that I realized this fisherman is an AI stamp - one I got a few years ago, probably at a yard sale!  It is marked 1996, so has been around for a while, but still timely.  This is for our son-in-law, and there will also be a birthday check concealed under the image.  He is an avid fisherman, so I can always find a theme!
At    http://anythingwisconsin.com/fishsayings.htm     I found the following to print on the inside:
things that I have learned from fishing:
1. There is no such thing as too much equipment.
2. When in doubt, exaggerate.
3. Even the best lines get weak after they have been used a few times.
4. Sometimes you really have to squirm to get off the hook.
5. The fishing is always better on the other side of the lake.
6. Good things come to those who wade.

Fishing

A recent big favorite of mine is shimmery cs - I bought a package of light silver and champagne, and you can see that many of my recent cards make use of it - especially for dry embossing.  I used a Sizzix Halloween scene folder for the bg - I am sure there is a way to keep the pumpkin from embossing, but I have not done that.  (I covered a couple more with the little scene).  I wanted the tree to show - maybe the little pumpkins will not be too noticeable!  Any hints?  The image is from the Art Impressions pop up series.  I recolored/enhanced some of the pre colored parts.  I used a brad to attach the cord with the sign - for movement.
Recipe:  1 embossing folder; 2 die cuts and 2 images (including sentiment); 3 colors for layering.

Kraft and blue

Blue is one of my favorites to go with kraft - works well for a fishing image!  I have lots of the "sky/water" dp - received as a gift.  I do not like to discard even small bits - the strip behind the leafy MS punch is the edge from a 12x12 piece of brown cs.  I thought maybe you could imagine that punch looks a bit like waves... The stamp is an old one from Embossing Arts.  This will be for a family member - lots of fishermen!

The Fish Whisperer

We need this guy around here this summer - we spend summers near a reservoir (Blue Mesa, CO).  DH and his two buddies spend a lot of time fishing - it has not been good this summer.  I am sure some one will want this card!  This is probably a first for me - hand printing the sentiment.  I thought that went with this Bugaboo image.  I used some odds and ends of fishing DP and a couple of stickers to complete the image - as well as some water/sky DP.

Another fishing card!

Hubby and his friends are used to having pretty good fishing for several weeks each summer - however, this year has not seen the same results.  So I put a lot of fish on some of my cards LOL!!!

Fishin' Riley - summer fun

Where we spend our summers fishing is THE activity - DH goes out about 3 times a week - and we love to eat the kokanee salmon he catches!  This will probable go to our son-in-law who will be here for the week end - his birthday is next week.  The fish are stickers - hope one will take the hook!!!

HB Brother in law

If you follow my blog, you might notice that there are a lot of cards with a fishing theme - a popular activity among family members!  This is for a brother-in-law.  I fudged a bit on the sketch, as I wanted the names of the fish to show - one of the challenges using DP is to get the correct part of the pattern visible.  This is Karen Foster dp.  I used the Distressed Stripes embossing folder - and promptly covered all but a sliver of the border - and it does not show here!  I like the slight lift it gives the bg.

Relax and Fish

We have many fishermen at our summer RV park - 3 have birthdays today!  I had te be innovative with this die cut - my "square" Labels set decided to hide - so I used this one, and used the side of the die to cut the end in a more straight line (left side) so it would fit the image and the card. The DP is from a small set of fishing designs.

Fishing is a sport

More later!!!
Monday, June 10 - our internet is not so great, and I ran out of time to finish this one on Sat.  I  am at our club house and forgot to bring the details.  I believe the stamp company is Holly Hill.  I used some fishing DP, and a sticker to add to the fishing theme.  I colored with Prismas.  I will not use a Father's Day card, but I thought the For You sentiment could be appropriate.
There are lots of challenges for Father's Day / Masculine themes:

Spring fishing

This will be a fun card for some fisherman friend.  I used spring colors (misc. papers); added a bit of a banner and twine to enhance an image from Digi Darla.  I colored the fish with watercolor and chalk pencils, and sponged with lemon colored chalk - probably too faint to show up.  Since the second line was too wide for the Nestie, I just cut into the body of the image to place it over the die while cutting.  I am satisfied with that result.  (Using the next larger Nestie would have made the image too big for this card - and with too much white showing.)  In retrospect I wish I had trimmed the A and R a bit more.
Serendipity - as I was getting out my twine, I re-discovered an old mesh bag I saved for something, some time!  Well, this was the time - I hope it looks a bit like a net.

For Ron

This is for a friend who will celebrate his birthday on Sunday.  DH and two friends all have birthdays the same day, and all three are avid fishermen - makes the theme pretty easy - except I need to have a variety of cards on hand!  The image is Art Impressions, and the seal is All Night Media - both rather old stamps.  I used the bubble EF, some twine, and a scrap of DP.  I wanted to get the lures to show, so trimmed a corner of that layer to make it fit.  The sentiment is computer generated.

Relax

  1. I have completed another of my masculine cards, as well as another 100 cards in 100 days - using items on hand - no  new purchases!  The stamp is by Embossing Arts Co., colored with Prismas.  I used two CB folders - Happy Birthday, and Bubbles.  The DP has been in my stash a LONG time!  (I cannot figure out what I did to change my format LOL!)
