The new challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to include dots and/or stripes. I found someof each in an old Debbie Mumm collection. Our first (and so far, only) great grand child will be one in November. so I am actually ahead of the game! While our grandson completes his med school residency they are living near a beach in Florida, so this tropical theme is quite appropriate. We obviously have not been able to see her in person but we see a lot of photos and videos on Facebook.
Some of you may recall that I am not coloring much due to macular degeneration, but I did dust off the Prismas for this one. I added the Cuttlebug number 1 backed by a couple of die cut flowers.
Please join us over the next couple of weeks for this challenge at the Crafter's Cafe.. I am sure you have some dots or stripes you can use!
Remember the limit of ten challenges entered in addition to the Crafter's Cafe challenge.

Crafter's Cafe challenge - Things with Wings
Penguins are a personal favorite. We have been fortunate enough to have visited several sites in the southern hemisphere with large penguin colonies - they are so fun to watch. This guy looks pretty proud of his catch! The pre-colored image is from Dr. Digi. The current challenge at the Crafter's cafe is things with wings. We hope you will join us I used a scrap of patterned paper to represent the sea, and some sheer orange ribbon as well as a narrow ribbon for the bow = both in orange to match the feet and beak. The sentiment is from an acrylic collection, and I used a metal charm as an anchor.

S is for Savior - Christmas 2019
This card is created using only papers from the Faith and Hope pad, by Craftsmart. - with the addition of a bit of striped Washi tape to tie the parts together. It has become increasingly difficult for me to color images due to my macular degeneration, so I am grateful for the variety of this pack. This card is 5.5 x 4.25. It is another card made for the challenge at Beccy's Place this month - she is encouraging a card a day. I am not close, but I am entering when I can. Thanks to all the other challenge sponsors as well.

The Crafter's Cafe challenge #223 ~ Animal and/or ATC
![]() |
| Sweet Sketch Wednesday |
The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use an animal theme, and/or create an ATC. With our temperatures in Phoenix area peaking around 110 this week, I thought maybe this cute p\Penguin on Ice from Eureka ( a sponsor) might cool us off. (It is available as a digi or a rubber stamp.) Not sure it is working!!! I added some sparkle to the ice. and used am embossed background. Black aBirthday:nd white cards are a favorite of mine. This may go to our sister-in-law. Several years ago we took a cruise with hubby's brother and his wife. We sailed among the icebergs around Antarctica, and took some sightseeing trips in South America that included penguin colonies. This will be a reminder of this fun trip.
Please join these challenges!
This fortnight we are linking up with Double Trouble
Check out the blog
https://doubletroublechallenge.blogspot.com/
If you also add your project to the Double Trouble Challenge you will increase your chance at a prize. Double Dare says, "If you have created a special occasion kid and/or baby project and have included a zoo animal, I dare you to enter the "Crafter's Café Challenge #223."
Though my card will be sent to an adult, it would also be suitable for a child. There are certainly plnty of penguins in zoos!

Some new old items to use
I belong to a local crafter's group. Our leader some times gets items a family is wanting to give to good homes. The last time, I scored on several lengths of lace and other trims. I finally had a chance to use the orange lace and the dragonfly trims. They were a good match for the Our Daily Bread image ( one i had already colored). I used Spellbinder circle dies and DP from my stashand I added some shiny orange gems to the dragonflies.

Another card for a sailor.
![]() |
| Sweek Sketch Wednesday2 |
Here is another card to donate - to be sent to sailors who are deployed - see more details in my previous post. I hope that some one will enjoy this cardboard boat image by Dearie Dolls - a pre-colored freebie. I have so many supplies I am trying to use - the corner items are stickers. I added twine and some shiny gems. Spellbinder dies were used to cut the ovals.

Bird House - DT card for QKR Stampede Anything Goes challenge #294
Please join us again this week for the Anything Goes challenge at QKR Stampede. You may submit up to 3 entries by 6 p.m. Thursday, and have an opportunity to win some new images. There is a category for Eureka/QKR stampede images, and another for others. (Hint - use your cute QKR's!) This time I selected an image called Bird House & Vines, and a verse to go with it. I colored with Twinkling H2O's and some watercolors. The panel with the cute trees is cs from WeRMemory Keepers, and the other is from my stash. The larger bird is a Cheery Lynn die cut, and the tiny birds are punched. I added a Cuttlebug border die cut with some metallic cord and a button.

Gatefold engagement card for grandson
I don't make many cards with multiple folds - but our grandson's engagement is an event worth commemorating with a special card. I used Spellbinder's Labels 4 die to cut the image and to create a window for it. I used my ScorPal to create the folds. My "surprise" includes images of a firefighter and nurse (Dearie Dolls pre-colored) which I cut out and placed on the inner panels. Our grandson is a hot shot firefighter - in Alaska this summer. His fiancee is a travel nurse. Both really enjoy the outdoors - fishing is a high priority - and I had enough of this paper for the front of the card.
The photos do not show this, but the base is double sided cs - I cut the mat and the letters from the side which also forms the back of the card.
I most likely will not make many of these cards - for me, very time consuming! I realize the delicate image does not quite go with the outdoorsy DP - but I wanted to incorporate the heart theme as well as references to the interests of the couple.

deb's 60th b'day - Oh NO!
Sorry for the very bad photo - am not sure why the flowers have such a washed out look. This card is already on its way, so I can't re-do it! I wanted to make a very special card for our daughter's 60th birthday. (No, I can't believe it! And, yes it does make me feel a bit older - but she hasn't stopped having another birthday each year!) This is a front-step card - I was inspired when I saw this beauty - Cheribdesigns. However, I am sure I did not correctly follow her instructions. The stamp is one by Northwoods - a yard sale purchase for 25 cents! The sentiment die is by Sizzix, and the bunnies, butterfly and flowers from a selection of no-name dies. I made the base so it opens from the right side, with a computer generated verse inside. This card could illustrate a pastime of gardening - or is it sitting by the mailbox waiting for my latest stamp order?

Hearts for a TeaPot party RAK
Here is another card for the TeaPot party at SplitCoastStampers - we have a weekly challenge to send some one cheer. I am way behind, and will use this for one of the past recipients.
The image is by Scribbles and the sentiment by QKR Stampede - though I may swap that out, depending on the situation. I colored the hearts with various shades of Twinkling H2O inks, and used a Spellbinder Labels 4 die cut as back up. The paper is by Paper Studio. I think this fits as a Valentine/love greeting.

Confirmation blessings
This is one of several cards I am making to send to 5 young women who were just confirmed in our church. This is a special event in their faith journey, and I want to acknowledge this. The image is one I have had quite a while from Sweet n' Sassy, and the die cut is by Cheery Lynn. The papers are from a pad called Faith, by Paper Studio.

SCS DTGD - JustWriteDesigns
I am still trying to complete each of the challenges for the Dare to get Dirty week at SplitCoastStampers (membership required to participate). I used a water color wash for the background. The tree is from a company called Ann-ticipation and the branch by Hero Arts. I am experimenting to find a simple card for multiples. I am learning it is hard to stamp crisply on watercolor paper.

Technique practice
I have decided it is time for me to make use of some of the many written and video tutorials that I have been watching and saving! Another goal is to make use of some of my recent and neglected purchases. I am not overly happy with this result, but it is against my nature to discard anything unless it is really bad!!!
The AI crew have done a lot of how-to videos on many topics, including water coloring. They make it look so easy. Well, it may be easy for them, but I need to work on my skills. The background is another story. I used a few drops of reinker -- I just placed them on a used gift card. I used a second gift card to pick up some of the color, and kind of spatter it on the water color paper. Next time I will spritz some water for a softer look. For the left panel I mixed blue and avocado. The right hand side .used avocado ink. With a tooth pick I spread out some gold glitter glue - probably a bit too heavy handed for my taste. I used some of the same glitter glue along the edge of the green mats as well as on the rocks.
My hint - I save a small paper cutter with a very dull blade which I use to cut when I want to achieve a bit of a distressed look. For me, that is easier than tearing.
I used watercolor paper for the image (AI Windows to the World) and the bg. That is why the verse around the image is a bit blurred.
