DT card for QKR Stampede challenge #199 - transportation

I am not sure how good this transportation might be...!!! I need a card for a brother-in-law who really enjoys long trail rides on his trusty Boots.  Certainly Boots is a bit more sedate than this bronco!  At any rate, check out the  QKR Stampede Blogspot  for this week's challenge - transportation.  You will find quite a variety of ideas from the talented DT members.  You may enter up to 3 times, and could win some of the fun QKR images.  Entries are due by 3 p,m, EDT, Thursday.
I colored the horse and rider with Prismas, and used chalk to lightly distress the edges. I used twine for a lasso, and Washi tape (maybe it is duck tape?) for the strips.  The background is dry embossed.  The sentiment is also from QKR (available as a rubber stamp) .  It is actually a single line that I cut apart to fit the sketch.

Krafty horses

I am making a small collection of cards to send to my sister - their family does a lot with horses, so this should be good for her.  I do struggle with these larger images - hope this is not overwhelming on an A2 card.  what do you think?  I used a Sizzix Brick embossing folder on the Kraft layer, and also used Kraft for the Cheery Lynn leafy die cuts, as well as the circle punches.  This image has been in my stash for a long time - it was received through the WishRAK group at Splitcoaststampers.  The other tools and supplies have also been around for quite a while - I am really trying to use up some things, but I think I could make a dozen cards a day for a long time and it would still take me years do get to the end of my supplies!  (I suspect a couple of you could relate to that...)

I like this image, but am SO afraid of totally destroying it with my coloring, so I decided to highlight the BG and leave the image uncolored.  For the farm yard look I added some punched birds.

Thinking of Ty

A friend asked me to do a special card.  Her nephew, and adopted boy of 13, is undergoing especially difficult times.  He was severely burned (by overly hot bathwater) as an infant. Now he must undergo special procedures daily, for several weeks, in an effort to save his legs.  I really have no understanding of the medical aspect, but it has to do with stimulating the growth that was inhibited by the burns.  My friend says he maintains a positive attitude.  He loves horses.  I made this 5.5x8.5.  The DP is from a Costco set.  The image and leaf punch are gifts.  I added brads, twine, and his name in CB Olivia lettering.  The blue layer is embossed with distressed stripes (CB).

I now have a good collection for the craft sale tomorrow.  I hope they sell!  (Secret - the inside verse is generic enough that I can change the sentiment on the front!)  The DP is Recollections; the die cut is a Cuttlebug border, and the verse is JustRite.

Horses - in Black and White - and a birthday tag

These challenges seemed like just the right combination to use this great Inkadinkado image - Special Moment.
I inked the Distressed Stripes (CB) folder, but I am not sure why it did not ink evenly - I just thought I would go with that look!  I have had the DP for a long time, and the other black strips are from as). This does not show at all well on the scan.  I have some great shimmery scraps - at 2" wide, I cannot use them for much, but for tags, they are great - except you cannot see the lovely shimmer.  The balloon is from one of the first SU sets I bought  (Fine Print), and rarely used  (the print is pretty tiny!).  I tried to make shrubs out of my line of hearts - Hampton Art.  Added some random doodles, and a tie of Santa Fe twine.  The top is cut with edging scissors.
