The Crafter's Cafe - Challenge 254 - Just for Fun
The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is just for fun - let us see your newest creations. I really like vintage images, and selected this one from TLC for a card for my sister - she has 2 or 3 of the most modern sewing machines, for quilting but probably learned on one similar to this.On a personal note - I am asking for your prayers. I have started another round of chemo for endometrial cancer. So far I have not had side effects which is a blessing. Unfortunately I have some other health issues and must take a med that makes me very tired, and takes away my ambition - hence I have been mostly MIA the past few months.

Happy Birthday, Nora Dorothy ~ Crafter's Cafe Challenge #249
The new challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to include dots and/or stripes. I found someof each in an old Debbie Mumm collection. Our first (and so far, only) great grand child will be one in November. so I am actually ahead of the game! While our grandson completes his med school residency they are living near a beach in Florida, so this tropical theme is quite appropriate. We obviously have not been able to see her in person but we see a lot of photos and videos on Facebook.
Some of you may recall that I am not coloring much due to macular degeneration, but I did dust off the Prismas for this one. I added the Cuttlebug number 1 backed by a couple of die cut flowers.
Please join us over the next couple of weeks for this challenge at the Crafter's Cafe.. I am sure you have some dots or stripes you can use!
Remember the limit of ten challenges entered in addition to the Crafter's Cafe challenge.

Beccy's challenge for the Reed family
Details to follow - and here they are. I again used an image from Beccy's Place. This card will go to the family of our daughter in law. Her 90 year old father passed away with complications from pneumonia - not the virus. He had been in relatively good health so this was unexpected. The simple Swiss Dots embossing folder works well with this image. I added ribbon and a bow.

Congrats on earning your PHD, Melissa
Our great niece just earned a PHD - what an achievement!
I had a piece of black cs that I had previously used for an oval cutout. It was just the right size and shape, so I used it as a frame for the starry patterned paper. The sentiment is a strip of patterned paper, and the gold stars are acrylic.

2020 - Non-graduation for Evan
Our great nephew (or is it grand nephew?) is a 2020 graduate. I was able to use paprs and embellishments from my stash. The Congrats is part of one of the first Cuttlebug die I ever purchased - many years ago! I used an unknown die to cut the base for the tag.
Congrats to all the graduates who have been experiencing such a difficult time in recent weeks.

Guest Designer - Stick it Down
Thanks to the team at Stick it Down for selecting me to be a guest designer for January. They provided a great sketch, and this is my card. I just received a cute packet of birthday items from Try Stampin on Tuesday - perfect for a card for our daughter-in-law. I added a swirly circle die cut from Memory Box. Check out the January posts at Stick it Down here. You have until the end of January to enter using the sketch for the month.

For my sister - version 2
Another card for my sister who long ago had dreams of being a concert violinist - and who has played in several orchestras. The image is one of so many freebies posted by TLC in Facebook. I used papers from a collection called Heirloom, and added a bit of gold cord. Too late for Christmas, but I made a couple to send to my sister - maybe she can use them as notecards. I forgot to measure, and they went in the mail today, but they are about 5x7. I cut the image with decorative scissors.

for my sister
I saw this image and had to make something for my sister. She has played in an orchestra, and likes vintage. I hope she likes this - even though it is too late for Christmas this year. Image is by TLC - one of a huge collection of freebies. This may be a stretch for the :"dream" theme, but long ago her dream was to be an accomplished violinist.

Happy birthday to our son
Paul, are you really going to be 60? where have the years gone?
He just finished a major remodeling job -the final project of many in their home. He had to do this evenings and week ends. I thought about putting a big red X over the tool cart! (I have used so many hunting and fishing images - time for a change LOL!!!)
The image was a prize from Sparkle n Sprinkle - I think they are now out of business. The letters are from a Cuttebug alphabet die set - probably the first die set I purchased. The DP pieces are from my endless stash. The base features a number of stripes to fulfill the sketch. I sponged the town edges of the image with chalk.

Z fold for birthdays
These are two cards I made for my sister and sister-in-law. (The top view is card one and the bottom two views are the two sides of the second card. The backing is double sided cs, and most of the images are freebies from TLC. I especially wanted to use the main image of #1 - an ad for a Dometic sewing machine. My sister has 3 fancy machines, I think, and I thought she would enjoy the humor and vintage feel. Sorry the photo is not better = I thought I had more - but the card has been sent off so too late to correct! The main verse says "So far this is the oldest you have ever been, so eat, drink and be merry.."

HB Myril
This features a free printable from TLC - I really like all the vintage prints they offer. This is for hubby's brother - I thought it would remind him of working on the farm when he was little - although it was a long time ago, the machinery they used was definitely more modern!

For Anna
This is for our granddaughter who is an elementary teacher. I know that she really encourage reading so when I saw the TLC image I realized it would be perfect. Then I found this little pack of Mary Engelbreit school papers (by Studio8) on the top of my stack just waiting to be used. To accommodate the image and the 6x6 papers, I made a square card. The center part of the DP is embossed with the Cuttlebug happy birthday folder. (FYI - the main layer with the book border is all one piece.) The bottom strip is a bit of another sheet in this set.
I just realized I missed adding my link to the blogs. Maybe I can still catch a couple of these challenges!

The Crafter's Cafe challenge #223 ~ Animal and/or ATC
![]() |
| Sweet Sketch Wednesday |
The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use an animal theme, and/or create an ATC. With our temperatures in Phoenix area peaking around 110 this week, I thought maybe this cute p\Penguin on Ice from Eureka ( a sponsor) might cool us off. (It is available as a digi or a rubber stamp.) Not sure it is working!!! I added some sparkle to the ice. and used am embossed background. Black aBirthday:nd white cards are a favorite of mine. This may go to our sister-in-law. Several years ago we took a cruise with hubby's brother and his wife. We sailed among the icebergs around Antarctica, and took some sightseeing trips in South America that included penguin colonies. This will be a reminder of this fun trip.
Please join these challenges!
This fortnight we are linking up with Double Trouble
Check out the blog
https://doubletroublechallenge.blogspot.com/
If you also add your project to the Double Trouble Challenge you will increase your chance at a prize. Double Dare says, "If you have created a special occasion kid and/or baby project and have included a zoo animal, I dare you to enter the "Crafter's Café Challenge #223."
Though my card will be sent to an adult, it would also be suitable for a child. There are certainly plnty of penguins in zoos!

Crafter's Cafe Challenge #220
The new challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use embossing, or have girls/women as a theme. I selected girls/women. The practical reason is that I needed a special graduation card for our granddaughter. The paper from DeCosse's Dynamite Doodles, In Flight, complemented the image from Julia Spiri ~Aviator Cat I also used the sentiment from the set Nothing is Impossible. I followed the suggestion of the artist and divided the sentiment - line 2 (Nothing is Impossible) is inside. Our GD likes her cat, but she will have to leave him behind as she heads for fighter pilot training in a couple of months. I used Spellbinder dies for the circles.

Crafter's Cafe Challenge #215 - Borders OR Include some Metal
The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use metal or show a border - or both. I used this sentiment from Decosses Dynamite Doodles as a border - than added a border to that using black ribbon topped with silver metallic ric-rac. The soda can stick on also has touches of silver.

Conratulations Ethan and Rachel
This is a non traditional card for our grandson and his fiancee;s wedding. It is meant to mimic the non traditional invitation. I hope they like it! The tree is from a long time favorite Stampin' Up set, and the swirls are by Die Namics, Oh, yes, I finally figured out another way to use the Majestic Element ovals by Spellbiinders. I cut the oval from the patterned paper, and inserted the cut oval back in to the space - the dark green background peeks through enough to show off the intricate design.

Congratulations, Anna and Josh
This is to send congratulations to a granddaughter on her recent engagement. What a happy event! The sentiment is from QKR Stampede. I used a heart embossing folder from Darice, some brads from me stash, and Spellbinder circle dies.
