Sing and make music

Some of you may know about the Tuesday Tea Pot Party group at SplitCoastStampers.  I have been a part of this group since the beginning, but I have kind of neglected the parties in recent months.  I am going to try to do better!  Each week we have a theme (not really required) and we may choose to send the card to a worthy recipient.  The most recent party is to encourage Mimi who has stage 4 lung cancer, and more.  Her faith and music are important to her, so this verse is appropriate.  Check it out here

DT card for QKR Stampede challenge #227

This nurse image is the one I selected for the weekly "anything goes"challenge at QKR Stampede.  You may enter as many as 3 times before Thursday at 6 p.m. EST - and you have a chance to win great QKR digis.  Take a look here to see what the talented DT members have come up with to inspire.
I send cards to several nurses - not sure if this will be a Valentine or a birthday greeting.  I used dotted DP, a strip of Washi tape, and grosgrain ribbon.  The larger hearts are die cuts, and the smaller pieces are embellishments by Sandylion.

HB, Lois

This fun House Mouse image is a great one for a friend who has moved away.  She was the leader of our church quilting group - we make quilts for those in need. This is a 4.5 x 6.25 format so there is plenty of room for several signatures.  The coloring is with Prismas.  I cut the image wiih crafting scissors, and added some metallic cord. I used a new piece of gingham DP, and new enamel dots - a just received prize.

QKR Stampede challenge #227 - ATG with a twist - one for the kids

Check out the new weekly challenge at QKR Stampede.  The theme is anything goes, with the optional twist "for the kids".  The image I selected is "Best Friends" by QKR - I suspect lots of little girls have a dolly as a best friend.  I colored her with Prisma pencils, and added a bit of shimmer with gel pens and the gold swirls on the DP.  This is the first I used this DP pack - it is a Martha Stewart pad I got on clearance a while ago - had to wait for Valentine's Day to use it!  I did not use glitter or gems so I can send it to Cards for the Heart, which sends cards to children in hospitals or in foster care.  See details here:  cards-cause- january-2017.

Leah's Birthday

These birthdays come so fast!  I hope I am not late with this card for our granddaughter.  She will soon graduate from college, but since she is so fond of her cats I could not resist this Dearie Dolls image.  I used the overall look of the photo at Cupcake Inspirations to inspire.  The coloring is with Prisma crayons and metallic gel pens.  DP is by Lily of the Valley, and the card is completed with cord and Washi tape as well as a QKR Stampede sentiment.

Smiles for Rilee - MMTPT442

I have been neglecting the TeaPot Tuesday challenges at SplitCoastStampers - to make and send a card to the designated recipient.  This week that person is 6 year old Rilee who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.  She enjoys checking her personal P.O box so we are trying to fill it for her.  There is good news from the doctors and we hope that continues.  If you would like worthwhile destinations for your cards, check out the teapot group!   All it takes is a card and a postage stamp.  I used this image because the challenge encourages fairy wings and/or pixies.
Supplies:  Basic Grey cs; image by A Day for Daisies;  sequins, Cuttlebug die cut sentiment; Washi tape.

On the edge die

I have been waiting to get mail including some new items - so far, nothing.  So I hope these dies will do.  I have used each of them only a couple of times, so they are pretty new to me.  The gem in the center of the flower is from a never used package.  This card is 4.75x6.25 - large enough for members of our church women's group to sign and send to a member who moved away not long ago.
Dies:  On the edge- Pansy Flourishes by Couture (used twice);    Blooms Two by Spellbinders (cut from metallic gold cs); sheer ribbon, Sincere Salutations greeting by Stampin' Up - edged in chalk.

Stencilled CAS for challenge #226 at QKR Stampede

:
This is my card for DT inspiration at the weekly challenge at QKR Stampede - CAS (clean and simple).  Check out the examples by the rest of the design team members, and join us for a chance to win QKR digital images - there are so many cute ones, as well as sentiments.  You may enter up to 3 times before 6 p.m. EST on Thursday.  The new QKR image I chose is Floating Away.  It is colored with Prismas, and fussy cut to adhere to the card.  I used a die cut for the sentiment.
If you have seen a few of my entries you probably realize that CAS is not my usual style - in fact, it is a technique I find a bit intimidating.  I seem to have this need to fill that blank space!  Using this stencil took care of that need. I tried something new (to me) by using various shades of black chalk to stencil in the border. I have had both chalk and stencil for a long time, but don't often use them.
Hope to see you at QKR stampede!

Thanks, Evelyn

This is for a friend who did a favor for me - I left the inside blank so she can in turn give it to someone. The materials, including the image, came from my stash.  I have a folder full of images - some colored, others ready to color.  I selected papers and Prisma colors for the YNS color challenge - blues and greens.  The heart is a Basic Grey chipboard die cut.

Thoughts for Troy

Quick birthday card

All components of this card come from a kit by Kanban - Designer paper, sentiments, die cuts.  The flourish is cut from one of the papers using a die-namics flourish die.  I have lots of birthdays and other occasions to catch up on!

One more thank you

CS by Basic Grey (Hopscotch pad);  SU stamp;  gold sticker strips, herringbone Washi tape, brad.  I used 3 coordinated patterns from the BG pad, and used the stickers to separate a couple of the layers.  I used 2 strips of Washi  tape to make a wide strip.  The sentiment tag is raised with small dimensional dots,

Warm Thoughts for the QKR challenge #225

This week's challenge #225 at QKR Stampede is "Warm Thoughts".  We need to send warm thoughts to some of you in the northern hemisphere - according to reports, many of you have been shivering and shoveling recently!  I hope this sweet angel and greeting will make you feel warm and fuzzy. Check out the QKR challenge site here so see some cute images and even cuter inspiration from my fellow DT members. You have a chance to win some QKR digis - you may enter up to 3 times by 6 p.m. EST, Thursday, January 12.
New to me image ("Music angel) and sentiment are both digis from QKR Stampede. The angel is colored with Prisma pencils.   I used some pieces of DP from a Lily of the Valley pad - matted on pink cs.  The vertical strip is from a Washi tape roll.  Pale peach ribbon and orange rain drops complete the card.

For Will

Our family birthdays come in bunches and I need to work on the January ones!  Will was an avid hunter but is no longer able to get out for that - hope he enjoys this "foresty" card.  I  used a brand new die (PoppyStamps)- it is a prize I won a couple of years ago and have never found time to use.  I found some old bits and pieces of woodsy DP for a backing, a double strip of plaid Washi tape,  and roughed up some of the edges.  My sentiment verse is on the inside - I usually print these verses from my fairly large computer file.
