Sparkly Christmas 2016

Cuttlebug Mania
Image - QKR; branch dies - Cheery Lynn; Cuttlebug snowflake embossing folder, Spellbinder Labels Four die; blue, white cs; glitter; punched star.  I colored by "pulling" ink (printer ink) with an aqua pen - the last one I did looked a bit blue, not sure why this has more of a beige look.  I expected grey! I added a bit of sparkle on the blue border and on the embossing.

SCS Falliday Fest - Texas Grammy - Spread and Shine

I have another entry for the SplitCoastStampers Falliday Fest challenges.  Thanks, Bev, (Texas Grammy), for another fun challenge.  To create this background, I used VersaMark on the cs.  I added gold embossing powder, and swirled around a bit of black - I wanted only a few subtle splashes of black. This was then heat embossed.  I got the uneven result I was hoping for.
Both stamps are Verve.  Ink is Eggplant.  Bits of gold edged ribbon and Petaloo flowers complete the card.

Sept. 23 QKR Stampede challenge - embossing with glitter and sparkle

When I saw the theme for this week's challenge (embossing) at QKR Stampede, I thought about this snowflake folder for a wintry card.  QKR has this great digital image, "Snowy Cabin",  as well as the let it snow sentiment.  Since we are in AZ, I could use it to rub it in to some one in snow country.
I did not color the image, but used a lot of glitter on the trees and the snow - on the image and on the embossed snowflakes.
Cuttlebug Snowflake embossing folder;  glitter, metallic silver strip, Floral Garden Diamond ribbon wrap; glittery snowflake button..  The mats look black here but IRL they are dark blue.  I especially like the crisp look of the white and blue.

SCS - MMTPT421 - Farm life for Marilyn

Each week the Tea Pot Party gals at Splitcoaststampers create cards to send to someone who may have a special need.  This week our cards go to Marilyn, who has had to give up her life on the farm for a retirement situation - and she misses her farm life.  Any one is welcome to join the party here:  Teapot Tuesdays.
Recipe:  images - SU  walk this way;  Misc DP, CB sentiment; glitter on sentiment; Prisma pencils.  The DP and black mat were both scraps - just about exactly the right size!

QKR - Things with Wings (DT card) meets SCS Dare to Get Dirty - TexasGrammy

The weekly challenge at  QKR Stampede is "things with wings".  I have used this image before, but I like penguins, black and white, and COOL!  (We have had mostly 100+ temps the past couple of months!)  The image is Penguin on Ice by QKR, and the sentiment is from the sister company Eureka. I made my own background using a spatter technique with an aqua pen and black re-inker.  I added a favorite sparkly cord and shiny gem, as well as some glitter on the ice.

SCS Dare to Get Dirty - Christmas for Stamping Queen JAR

The week long Dare to Get Dirty challenge at SplitCoastStampers continues.  If you are a member of the Fan Club (fee required) you may participate for fun and prizes.  The deadline is Aug. 8.  I created this Christmas card for Stamping Queen JAR's challenge.
Since I am addicted to embossing folders (try to find a week when I did not use several LOL!) I found a new technique to try.  There is a tutorial here:  foil embossing.  I covered the piece of cs with kitchen foil - cut a bit larger and tape the excess on the back.  You can ink up the folder, but I wanted the shiny result so I left it plain.  What great embossing!  Every year I  plan to look for a star folder, but, here I am, using snowflakes again!  If you know of a full page star folder, please let me know.   I added a bit of blue ribbon, some Cheery Lynn pine branches, and a star brad that I glittered up.

Soar up up and away - and back down again

This is my card for this week's Design Team samples at QKR Stampede.  The theme is Up up and away.  You may enter up to 3 times and you have a chance to win images from the QKR digi store.
As is often the case, I have a story behind this card.  If you have seen previous cards you may recall we have a granddaughter who is beginning her second year at the US Air Force Academy.  She recently completed her requirement to earn her military freefall wings.  Even their first jump is a solo.  So of course the sentiment is not quite accurate - she was certainly not sitting! ( But I could not resist.)    Reading her description - it must be a magical experience.

Eureka Stamps Challenge #192 - April Showers bring May flowers

Tulips are a favorite of mine - such a lovely result of April showers - just not so much here in Arizona.  For this challenge I used the stamp "tulips" and the Blessings sentiment - both available as digis at the Eureka site.  The background is light purple, though on my screen it looks blue!  I added ribbon and some tiny punched butterflies, which I covered in sparkly purple glitter mixed with gold..  Please join us with your floral entries.  You can win 2 digis of your choice - 3 if your entry uses an image from Eureka.

Black and White with red

This silhouette is one of my favorite images from Beccy's Place.  I like the image, and I also really like black and white!  I thought the tiny red  punches at the corner echoed the main items on the image - not sure if they are flowers or seed pods, or...  (Gardening is not my forte!).  I added glitter to the tiny butterfly as well as the flowers of the image.
