This week hubby and I had a chance to make the 60 mile jaunt to Gila Bend, AZ.  Our granddaughter is spending the week at an Air Force Facility there.  She is a member of the Wings of Green of the US Air Force Academy.  The Wings of Blue (Juniors and Seniors) were there also.  All were hoping to get in a lot of practice parachute jumps - I fear it was a bit too windy to do as much as they wanted.  We watched her do jump #69 and 70.  Here are photos with her grandfather; packing her 'chute; practicing the group maneuvers they will do before deploying the 'chute; loading the plane, and, finally, coming in for a landing.  Adrienne is on the demo team - she is hoping to be a part of the team that will drop into such events as major football games, etc.

DT card for QKR Stampede Challenge #237: Anything Goes/ Up, Up and Away

Strong Coffee

These images are part of a great freebie set from Verve - a great help for me as I do not have many stamps relating to coffee.  This is a great sentiment!  I colored the cup with Prisma coors.  DP is by Lily of the Valley, and the strips are Washi tape mounted on a layer of white cs..  The circles are dies by Spellbinder, as is the scalloped rectangle.  The original rectangle was too wide, so I made a second cut, by sliding the cs over a couple of scallops, then cutting.

Spring is in the air - QKR Stampede DT challenge #236

These hungry babies are a sure sign of spring, and I thought their nest in a mailbox is a good illustration for this inspirational sentiment.  Both are from the QKR Stampede digi store.  This week their challenge is again Anything Goes, with the option of "spring is in the air".  You have until 6 p.m. EDT Thursday March 30 to add up to 3 entries.  Winners receive digis from QKR Stampede - more if you use their stamps.  I cut the sentiment into 3 sections, and opted to deliberately cut unevenly. For the red cs mats and the punch I used scraps, as well as some of the last bit of braid.
RECIPE:  QKR Stampede digis; Prisma crayons; white woven braid bird house dp by Lily of the Valley; punch; red cs.

Herbie Husker for MMTPT

This week the Teapot Tuesday challenge at SplitCoastStampers is to make (and send, if desired) a card for a 10 year old boy whose fight with cancer is not going well. I am running a week behind, but I could not resist making a card befitting his position as a Nebraska Cornhusker fan, even though he lives in TX.  Bensarmom at SCS reminded me that clip art is an available option.  So I found Harry Husker and the Go Big Red slogan on line.  Easy for me, as I am also a great Husker fan!

If you can help with this image I would appreciate it.  It is yet another one in my files that I neglected to label.  It is fun for an anniversary card.  I colored with gel pens and Prismas.  The sentiment is by QKR Stampede.

DT card for QKR Stampede Challenge #235 ~ Anything Goes / Congratulations

This week the Anything Goes challenge at QKR Stampede has the option of Congratulations.  When I saw this image ("Basking") I knew how great it would be for a retirement congrats - and what a fun sentiment to go with it!  He is colored with Prismas.  The retirement sentiment is from my computer.  DP by Beau Papier, a die cut strip (with the negative below the retirement line). Washi tape, circle dies and a punched circle complete the card.  I added a second, kelly green layer to the die cut strip. The die cuts and punched circles are all done with scraps.  The DP was a left over piece that was just the right size.

Shaped card

The inside shows the back of the wizard and the sign proclaims:  "poof...you are one year older."  I sent it in the mail today and forgot to take a picture of the inside.  I did make a very similar card a few months ago, but changed up the colors.  The Labels 1 die works well for this shaped card.  I used shades of blue, and added a layer of gold that shows just a bit .The images are QKR Stampede digis colored with Prismas.

Spring birthday

I have been trying to find a way to use a new find - the other day I ran across a roll of felt ribbon at Dollar Tree.  It has a solid and a cut out butterfly, but I only used the cut out one.  It came in a few different colors, but I chose the mint green - than have had a hard time figuring out a way to incorporate this into a card!  It certainly adds dimension, and I know I can also cut away the edging for a different look.  The CS is from a Recollection pack, and the DP a piece from a DCWV pad I have had for several years!  I used a Darice embossing folder for the butterfly bg.

I like this Thank you sentiment from QKR Stampede, and I thought this floral from the sister company Eureka was close to a "bunch" of flowers.  Join us this week for a chance to win some great QKR Stampede digis - look here for more inspiration.  You may enter up to 3 times; the deadline is 6 p.m. Eastern time, Thurs.
Image - Eureka; sentiment - QKR Stampede; misc. purple cs; white ribbon, Spellbinder oval diesbutterfly punch; acrylic sticker dot.  (I found a great sheet of 117 dots /$1 at the Dollar Tree!).  I inked the edges of the sentiment.  Trust me, IRL the cs is purple!

Serene farm scene

Recently I have seen several beautiful cards that feature lovely backgrounds as a base for silhouette images.  Some are sponged and some are "squished".  I decided to try my hand.  I used various Twinkling H20 inks with an aqua pen.  I have several colors of this ink but still was somewhat limited - though I am pretty happy with the result.  (I painted the base cs in the location where I knew the digi would be printed.)
Digi - Beccy's Place Nell's Cottage;  Twinkling H2O ink; Spellbinder circle dies;  Cuttlebug embossing folder, SU sentiment (very old!); twine, scrap of DP, green cs.  For my snippets I used a bit of twine and small pieces of green to back the DP, as well as a bit of cs for the sentiment.

HB, Kim

A friend saw a card with this QKR Stampede digi nurse, and asked if I would make a card for her daughter who has been a nurse for many years.  The sentiment is also QKR Stampede, and the DP is Lily of the Valley.  The sentiment is edged with ink, and distressed.  Sheer ribbon was just right for the finishing touch.

St. Pat's Day card - for QKR Stampede #233 - Anything Goes

This week the QKR Stampede weekly challenge is again Anything Goes - and no twist this time!  You may enter up to 3 times before 6 pm EST Thursday, March 9.  You might win your choice of QKR Stampede digis.  If you are looking for something cute for St. Patrick's day, check on this Pot of Gold digi. I  used Prismas and a gold metallic pen for coloring.  The sentiment is from Eureka stamps - they can be found on the same site as QKR.  Due to a little mishap I used the pen to add some background dots - maybe it is raining more coins to fill the pot!  The dies are by Spellbinders, and I found a piece of DP in my stash that looked a bit like the Irish theme. The border die was cut from a snippet of dark green cs, and I used a snippet of cord.  One of the challenges I am entering asks for "fantasy".  This is not the usual interpretation, I know - but what is more fantasy than finding a pot of gold!!!
