Improvised Vintage with Memory Box

Grr.  I am seeing so many lovely cards with a vintage look.  I guess I need to find one item that I really like, make sure I have all the supplies, and case away.  I am not at all happy with this result, but it will have to do for now.  There are a couple of challenges that called me to try...  I do not have the inks or the colors, so this is improvised.  I used Twinkling H20 inks for the main image - the green is a mixture. I used a bit more water and wetter aqua brush than I usually do.  The (Ocean Blue) bg and the cs for the die cut border are sponged with chalk.  The die is cuttlebug; flowers are Petaloo, and the ribbon are Offray.  The image is Memory Box
I would welcome comments on improving this - I was somewhat limited by a sketch.

I really like it - I think your card has a nice almost rain-washed look to it! Thank you for sharing and for joining us this week at Simon Says Stamp and Show!

This is a great card with wonderful details. :) I think you are being too hard on yourself, but I understand your frustration in not achieving what you were going for. It's happened to me many times.

Dorothy, I totally sympathize with you. I love the vintage look too, but rarely do my cards ever come out on paper the way I see them in my head! For that shabby look I really like the Tim Holtz distress inkpads. I'm not sure if that's the look you're going for since it's more grunge vintage than shabby vintage but I think you could easily change the mood by using some of the lighter colors. HTH

You tried some very creative things, even if you don't care as much for it as something else you've made. I think that's part of the process. I especially liked the way you used that unique border entertwined with the ribbon. Thanks for sharing it at The Perfect Sentiments Challenge.
