Some new old items to use

I belong to a local crafter's group.  Our leader some times gets items a family is wanting to give to good homes.  The last time, I scored on several lengths of lace and other trims.  I finally had a chance to use the orange lace and the dragonfly trims.  They were a good match for the Our Daily Bread image ( one i had already colored).  I used Spellbinder circle dies and DP from my stashand I added some  shiny orange gems to the dragonflies.

Christmas 2018

I am so happy how this turned out!  I cut the deer and tree panel from one of the cards in my stash.  The sentiment is from Eureka, and the snowflake bg is embossed from a very much used Cuttlebug folder.  It;s hard to see, but I added Stickles for some sparkly snow.

Upcycled birthday card

Recently I have tried to do more upcycling than previously.  I have reached the point where I really must do something about that stack of cards I intend to use some day...!!!  I also need to use my stash of supplies, stamps, etc - if I make 500 cards a month I might make a dent! (Just kidding, of course!  These days, I am lucky to get a dozen or so a month.)   Here I have used a lovely image from a card - one of the few I have suitable for a guy!  I added the stamped sentiment, and used Spellbinders Labels 1 dies for the image, and sticker strips for the edging.

The Crafter's Cafe challenge #204 - DT card

  • Challenge #204 at the Crafter's Cafe is to follow a seasonal theme - either spring or fall.  Here in Arizona it is hard to think of anything but summer - the forecast is for close to 110 on Saturday!  That being said, as fast as this year is passing by, Halloween is really just around the corner!  This cute Halloween Sign  image is from Paper Nest Dolls.  I used several scraps of paper from a collection by The image is colored with water color pencils and an aqua pen, and I added some shiny gems.
  • Please join us with a maximum of 3 entries over the next two weeks - you will have a chance at one of several prizes.

Confirmation 2018 - last card

This is the last of a series of cards I have made to send to members of this year's confirmation class at our church.  We are mostly mature members, and I think it is so important to do all we can to encourage the younger members.  Image - Sweet 'n sassy;  Darice embossing folder; die cut sentiment by Cheery Lynnlabels die cut by Spellbinder; Washi tape and gold ribbon.

Confirmation card #2

I will send cards to the newly confirmed members of our church.  We are pretty much a very mature congregation, so it is encouraging to have younger members.  I want to show support for them whenever possible.  This is for the young man in the group.

Confirmation 2018

Each year I try to send cards to young people who are being confirmed in our church - as a reminder of the support of members. This image by Sweet n Sassy is great to use, and I always like the white and red combination.

DT Card for the Crafter's Cafe challenge #203 - use 3 of something

The current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe is to use 3 of something.  I have the 3 circles, of course, but if you look carefully I have 3 punched bones in the corners.  This image is calIed Happy dog - and I   think this doggie is happy about that!  The image comes from one of our sponsors, the QKR Stampede.  Check out the Crafter.s Cafe blog for details.  There are some fun prizes to be won.;
Circles - dies by Spellbinder;  Image - Happy Dog by QKR Stampede;  BG- Cuttlebug Happy Birthday folder, with splattered Walnut ink from my old stash.  I think this birthday folder is the first embossing folder in my stash!

Christmas 2018 Recycled

This is another example of recycling.   I used the main image, and other parts of the same card for the background elements.  You can't tell from the photo but there is some glittery texture to enhance the snowy, starry look.  This will be added to my stash for Hearts for the Troops to send off to some sailors.

Inspiration - light, and some colors:  House that stamps built
winter:  Incy Wincy
Technique - new to me - using more than just the main image of card to recycle:  Pile it on

Crafter's Cafe Challenge #202 - birthday and/.or buttons

I used buttons on this birthday card, but if you enter the current challenge at the Crafter's Cafe you may choose one or the other - or both, as I have.   I know many of you have a button collection around there someplace!  This image is part of a set available from one of our sponsors, Sparkle n' Sprinkle.   The birds in the background are a part of the set as well.  Actually, I have also had it in my collection as a freebie from Beccy's Place - thanks to both of you.  It is a favorite of mine - so versatile as it can be a masculine birthday card, as I have done here, or it could be a thinking of you or sympathy card.

Happy birthday, Norm

Allsorts challenge
With my eye sight declining, I am more and more relying on pre-colored images.  This one, from Beccy's Place, seemed a good choice for a brother-in-law.  One of his hobbies is making home made ice cream - not quite like these cones, but it may work.  Do you think this works for a masculine card?  I added some dew drops - for dripping ice cream.  There are also button brads and some washi tape.

Silhouette Christmas 2018

I tried something new for this card - I used gold sticker strips to add a border to the card.  The left side features rick rac and a couple of gold strips. The silhouette image is a Stampendous stamp and the die cuts are Spellbinders.

Sunset background

I was inspired by several cards created by Janette Kausen for a recent Spellbinder blog hop.  I missed the hop but still saw some impressive work.  If you are looking, Janette, you do not need to worry about competition from me - yours are so stunning.  But I will work on them!

Crafter's Cafe - 2nd DT card for challenge #201- Travel and/or relaxing

This week I created a second card as a member of the Crafter's Cafe Design Team.  This image is from Mari Digis Store.  She is definitely relaxing - and probably dreaming of a vacation!  Please join us during the next two weeks - there are great prizes available.
I used the spotlight technique and highlighted her cute little kitty - using a water color wash for the rest of the image.  The background papers come from an old collection whose name is unavailable.
(footnote -  I am struggling with the onset of macular degeneration - coloring images is a huge challenge so I am going to be using other techniques as I am most reluctant to give up card making!)

Experimenting with Tri-fold Nativity by AI

This uses a new set, Nativity,  from Art Impressions - a prize that I just won.  It includes 4 stamps and 2 dies.  You see the 3 layers in the view above - the main stable and sentiment, the inner manger, and the baby revealed in the last view.  The two dies create openings to show the inner layers.
I used chalk and stencils for a background - in subtle colors.
