Christmas 2015 #26

First of all - can any one answer this question?  I usually use GP 110 cs (from WalMart) for card bases - I prefer to use the computer to print verses on the inside.  Some one told me that Recollection 110 (Michaels) is better - I got some - but it will not go through the printer.  My question - both say 110, but the Recollections seems twice as thick.  I thought 110 referred to weight and would be the same.  What does 110 really mean?  (I had anticipated the printer problem so am not overly disappointed - will just have to be more creative with those inside verses.)
Now to this card:    DP - Faith collection by the Paper Studio; snowflake folder (CB); stamp by Stampabilities.  It has a date of 2008 - I am sure I have not had it that long, but it has been in my collection for a few years - have not used it much recently.

Like the arrangement, sentiment & embossing on your Christmas card. Thank you for entering DLART Christmas challenge. I use WalMart white cardstock but recently discovered Hobby Lobby the Paper Studio Heavy Weight white cardstock.

Your card is fabulous Dorothy, I love the layout and the colour scheme. The sentiment is fantastic and I like how the script is echoed in the background paper. The embossing adds a nice touch of texture to the background too. Well done!

I'm not sure about your paper / cardboard situation Dorothy, we don't have Walmart in Australia and I don't think I've ever bought any of their paper when I was traveling either. Usually the weight of the card is advertised as lb. (pound) or gsm. (grams per square metre). Gsm is used here in Australia and is pretty standard across the range of papers. Lb. seems to be a measurement that varies depending on the type of paper being used. A quick search shows there's a difference between bond and text, etc. Perhaps there's more explanation on the packaging?
Anyway, great job on the card!
Cheers,
Beccy

Your card is very lovely! Beautiful verse and I love how the green pops of the white embossed paper. Sorry, I do not know the answer about the paper. I use the 110 lb Recollections but have not tried running it thru my printer. I know my printer has a setting for thick cardstock tho. I hope you figure it out. Thank you for joining us at Craftin Desert Diva's Linky Party!

The 110 refers to the weight PER REAM of paper (Gram per Square meters in the metric system). Actual thickness, is measured in Microns (metric system). Imagine craft foam and how thick is, then emboss it flat, will it have the same weight ? Yes it will and therefore thickness is not an accurate "measure" of weight although with most paper/cards it is a fairly good indication. Hope this helps rather than confuse you further!
Anyway, just came by to check your entry in our Vintage Stamping Challenge. It looks very elegant and certainly classic Christmas! Thanks for joining us this month.
