Quick HB card for Kathy

I had a request for a birthday card - needed in about an hour!!!  The apron is in my digi file (Calypso) , colored with chalk pencils, and the sentiment is computer generated.  I used DP from an old DCWV pad.

Simple life

By now you have probably seen several of the Art Impressions pop-ups - this guy looks like a lot of our neighbors in our RV resort!  I had some bits of My Minds Eye Dp that fit the theme, and used Kraft for the base..  The inside verse:  "God out me one this earth to accomplish a certain number of things.  Right now I am so far behind I will never die."

With a flourish

I am trying to dig into my stash of DP - can't hoard it forever!   The verse is from Out Daily Breat birthday set.  I cut the flourish with a Joanna Sheen die, and I added a strip of pale yellow lace.  The mat CS is a dark grey.

At the salon

I have many of the Art Impressions pop ups (sort of like pre colored die cuts to punch out) to use - thanks for a sketch that works!  There are four layers for the main image, and I managed to squeeze in the accessory pieces.  So this card uses the entire sheet.  The pop ups come 4 sheets to a pack.  I used the Embossabilitiies birthday folder for the bg.

white on white

(The blue is not a part of the card).  Sorry for the really bad image - it looks much better IRL.  I can't seem to do white!  I thried something new for this card - the main layer is first embossed with Cuttlebug Textile, then embossed with the Darice sympathy folder.  I added a sheer white ribbon and Cheery Lynn tiny flower die cuts.

By the sea

This is another unnamed image from my stash - through Wish RAK at splitcoaststampers.  I sponged with beige and 2 blue chalks.  The bg is DVine Swirls (CB) embossing.  Washi tape, twine and a big brad complete the look.  The sentiment is from the Rubber Cafe.

Quick card

I needed a simple card, and decided to tie it in with a couple of challenges.  The sketch at Stamplorations is a type I struggle with, but I did make an attempt.  The embossing is one I have hardly ever used, but fit with the theme of mail.  The leaves are a Sizzix die, and the butterflies  Basic Grey epoxy stickers.

Peach and dark burgundy

I am not sure if the bg id dark burgundy, plum, or aubergine - whatever, I like the combination with peach.  The image is from my never ending stash, and the DP is Making Memories, I believe.  The edging is the negative of a Cuttlebug border die.  This will be used as a sympathy card.

HB, Marilyn

Happy Birthday, Marilyn.  Her husband asked me to make a card for her.  They are fellow RVers, and she does enjoy sitting on their patio watching the birds - especially hummingbirds.  I   thought I had a better image to use, but made this work.  I fussy cut the chair (Peace Within, Stampin' Up).  The actual image has a cat relaxing on the chair, and Marilyn is not necessarily a cat person.  So I used one of the pieces from an Art Impressions pop-up set - a purse.  Not sure if you can see this - the tail and ears were showing under the purse, so I tucked in a couple of tiny leaves - hope you think they fell from the tree!  Lots of improvisation here...  the embossing folder (Sizzix) is actually a fall one with pumpkins by the fence, but I trimmed it a little and I think they are pretty well disguised for this summer scene LOL!!!  I used chalk to highlight the embossing, and to color the chair and flowers.  The birds are Cheery Lynn dies and the strips are Washi tape.  Sentiment by the Rubber Cafe.  Butterfly embossed bg by Darice.  The card is 8.5 x 5.5.

Just sittin' here. . .

I have quite a few of these Art Impressions pop up sets  - these guys crack me up!  By..the way, if any of you are wondering why this is entered in the summer fun challenges - well, for these guys, this is summer fun!  For a grungy look I distressed some edges and chalked the exposed parts of the Happy Birthday embossing.  And do these guys qualify for grungy??? LOL!

HB, Lance

I have friends who have me make most of their cards - this is for a son who spends his days at the computer (for his job) - an often stressful situation.   I did not have  a suitable image so went to Clip Art and found this - it worked well for them. The other panel is a digi from TLC - one of the freebies from last September.  Thank you, TLC!  The letters are die cut; the strips from a Dazzles sheet, and the dp from my stash.  I adjusted the sketch a bit to fit the images I had. The bg is a deep burgundy, and I embossed the two frames.

Young at Heart

Today one of my customers told me her 70 year old mother has often said she would like just one minute on  a skate board or roller blades - and her 5 year old granddaughter told her "Grandma, the result would not be good"!!!!  LOL!!!  After hearing that I had to use this Art Impression pop up!  (The pop ups are pre colored images ready to punch out and use.)  I added the Cuttlebug birthday embossing, LifeStyle crafts road like embossing, and the Cuttlebug Faux stitches border embossing folder.  I cut the Cheery Lynn bird from a bit of left over glitter cs.

Lazy summer day

This is yet another of the pre-stamped images from the Art Impressions pop-up collections - all ready to punch out and adhere to my card.  The sentiment is SU - Circle of Friendship.  The bg is by SugarTree - the design can be used for water or sky, and I embossed with D'vine Swirls (Cuttlebug).  Finishing touches are sheer ribbon and a couple of sparkly gems as well as a sequin on the umbrella.

Another repost

I am also reposting this card, originally posted yesterday, in order to be able to create an individual link.
This card also uses the emerald cs available at Classy Cards 'n Such; Cuttlebug border embossing folder, ribbon and sequins from my stash; sentiment from Unity.
To create the splatters I used reinker (Tsukinecko), mixed with a bit of water.  I dipped a toothbrush in it, and alternately tapped, shook, and plunked to get the result.  To create the bg for this card I used a plastic stencil (rows of dots) to get the somewhat more even pattern, and added a bit of DP for the bottom panel.

Act your age??

This is another image and sentiment  from one of the fun Art Impressions pop-up sets - it is pre-colored and ready to punch.  Since we are in an RV park, I used a piece of DP featuring vehicles, with matching stripes.  The diagonal is Washi tape, and I embossed with the Happy Birthday folder.  I edged the image with a brown marking pen, for a bit of contrast.

Unity guest for today's blog hop

I am so excited and more than a little nervous.  I was asked to be  guest for today's challenge hop at the Unity Blog.  (Since I have not had this experience, I will probably have to make some corrections - please be patient with me.)  My excitement began when I was a big winner for their challenge a few weeks ago.  If you look at some of my previous posts, you will see that I have made good use of several items, especially the Christmas set.
I made two cards using the sketch for this week.
Card details:  Unity sentiment from Favorite Sentiment set.
Washi tape Cuttlebug Textile embossing and border die;Cheery Lynn butterfly die; Stardream metallic Neptune - emerald - cs - another prize, and it is available at Classy Cards 'n Such.  Details of the splatter technique will follow.
For the first card I used the metallic teal ink for a shimmery look.  To create the bg for the second card I used a plastic stencil to get the somewhat more even pattern, and added a bit of DP for the bottom panel.

The sketch is from the Unity blog.
Other challenges entered:

Please join in the blog hop which begins here:  http://www.theunitystampco.blogspot.com/
Some lucky participants will be eligible for winning prizes - but you have to leave comments in order to be a winner!

Splatters

I do not really do a good job of keeping up on trends, but from a couple of challenge descriptions, splattering must be in!   When I saw these challenges, I immediately had an idea to combine splatters with using the new die I received as a prize from Classy Cards 'n Such - the Memory Box Excavator.  This die and many others may be purchased there. To create the splatters I used Posh Terra Cotta re-inker (watered down) and a toothbrush.  As you can see, this resulted in uneven spots as I tried to master the correct way to "click" on the brush!  I hope you can figure out what my idea involved.  The diagonal track is Washi tape, and the HI is a scrap of left over layers from the tape strip - cut with a Cuttlebug die.
In case you are wondering what this has to do with summer time - you probaby have not been out on the highways recently LOL!!

One more for a young man

I rarely make the same card twice, and I do not often make similar ones.  However, sometimes I have similar supplies out, and also print 2-3 digital images at once.  This time, I decided to complete a card similar to the last one, especially since I have need of cards for young men.  I used miscellaneous scraps, a freebie from Create with TLC, some dotted Washi tape, a punched strip and bit of ribbon.

I really struggle to make cards for 20 something males - too old for cutesie, and probably not into too much golf yet!  If they hunt or fish, I can do it.  Please, let me know if you have other ideas!  Here, the gems may be too much - it just seemed too severe with nothing but the sentiment and Washi tape!

July 4

I had intended to complete and post this for a Happy July 4 greeting.  However, our wi fi was too slow to check out the challenges I wanted to.  Then our daughter and son-in-law came for an unexpected and most welcome overnight stay.  Now I have a chance to complete this - and I can say I hope every one had a great week end - and for those in the US - I hope we have had a chance to appreciate the meaning of the holiday.

Speedy recovery

I did take some liberty with this sketch - just had a hard time figuring out how to put circles together!  Instead, I cut Cheery Lynn butterflies from the reverse side of the DP (Craft n Craftin).  The swirls are Die-namics dies, and the sentiment computer generated.  I tore it and distressed with red chalk.  I also sponged a bit of red on the main image (Stampin Up Sweet of You set.)

29 Again

This is a die cut image and sentiment from one of the Art Impressions pop up kits.  This sketch gave me a chance to use bits of some kind of bright dotted dp that a friend gave me   I used this verse inside: " Oh what a relief...  When it's your birthday, not mine!"  The red cs is embossed with the Cuttlebug embossing folder, and I highlighted some of it with orange chalk.

Another lazy day

Stamps by Art Impressions, colored with Prismas.  DP was a gift; bg is burgundy.  FYI - the images on the dp were not all located in the best spots, so I cut out a small panel that had been under the circle, backed it with burgundy, and placed it where the sketch had a panel to the left of the image.  Accents are Washi tape.

Happy birthday, sister

Note- this color seems off - the flower and some stripes are more of a pale pink, and the Washi tape matches the pink stripe.  Oh, well...
Stamp by Hampton Art; Impression Obsession sentiment; Craft 'n Craftin' DP; Pastel chalk creation coloring.

CASEing with butterflies

I tend to be intimidated by the thought of coloring butterflies - that is why I have a lot of dies!  This is one of the Unity stamps I chose for a recent prize, and decided to try it out - I would appreciate your critique.  I colored with a combination of purple Prismas and gel pens.  The embossed strip is by Cuttlebug, and I added a strip of shiny twine.  The dark purple base cs is white core.  I have a dull cutter blade I save for distressing - it leaves a slightly rough cut.  I also added a bit of chalk to the sentiment for added distress.  I do not often mask - I need to practice positioning!

fun exercise

These AI ladies are having so much fun - I think they are getting ready for the swim suit season!  I paper pieced a couple of their outfits and a couple of the balls - the rest are colored with Prismas.  The sentiment is SU Fundamental Phrases and is attached with half pearls.
