I am making a series of sympathy cards using this tree from "Lovely as a Tree" by Stampin' Up. It is an older set but a favorite. Since these cards all go to guys in their 50s, and who live in in a wooded area, I thought this would be appropriate. The bg is dry embossed with Cuttlebug's vine folder. The sentiment is by Paper Inspirations. This Dearie Doll colored digi is great for our grandson - he is in his mid 20's - loves dogs and the outdoors, including fishing. This is not the right kind of dog, but the idea is there! I used some DP I hae had for a long time. The sentiment is by TAWS, and I had a chance to use my doggie bone
punch! This is a bit of a stretch for the Things that hop challenge - but have you seen your fishing rod and line when there is a fish - it really hops! Sketch: Sketch Saturday Things that hop: Simon Says Stamp Monday Birthday Sentiment: Aud Sentiments Any: Crafting Circle Crafty Creations
I used this clipart image a while ago, and realized it would be perfect for our friend. He and I have birthdays within a few days of each other, and we just celebrated a few days ago. They are snowbirds and headed for their summer place in Colorado. So he already has the card, and he enjoyed it even more than I expected! Unless you are Nebraska fans, you probably do not realize that Herbie Husker is a mascot of the football Cornhuskers. With a nickname like that, and the ear of corn you can see, this must meet the farm theme of the Creative Corner challenge! We had a small family reunion at our house last week. I was asked to make a card featuring a margarita card. I found a great set by googling clip art - but I cannot find it now! I used a scrap of pattern paper to continue the theme, and added stickles to the salt on the glass.
The end of the sentiment (inside) says..."especially when the salt accompanies a drink and good friends!"

This week hubby and I had a chance to make the 60 mile jaunt to Gila Bend, AZ. Our granddaughter is spending the week at an Air Force Facility there. She is a member of the Wings of Green of the US Air Force Academy. The Wings of Blue (Juniors and Seniors) were there also. All were hoping to get in a lot of practice parachute jumps - I fear it was a bit too windy to do as much as they wanted. We watched her do jump #69 and 70. Here are photos with her grandfather; packing her 'chute; practicing the group maneuvers they will do before deploying the 'chute; loading the plane, and, finally, coming in for a landing. Adrienne is on the demo team - she is hoping to be a part of the team that will drop into such events as major football games, etc.
This will be sent to someone who is dealing with health issues - as many of you do, I use my cards to show kind thoughts to many who are in need.

This week the Teapot Tuesday challenge at SplitCoastStampers is to make (and send, if desired) a card for a 10 year old boy whose fight with cancer is not going well. I am running a week behind, but I could not resist making a card befitting his position as a Nebraska Cornhusker fan, even though he lives in TX. Bensarmom at SCS reminded me that clip art is an available option. So I found Harry Husker and the Go Big Red slogan on line. Easy for me, as I am also a great Husker fan!

If you can help with this image I would appreciate it. It is yet another one in my files that I neglected to label. It is fun for an anniversary card. I colored with gel pens and Prismas. The sentiment is by QKR Stampede.

The inside shows the back of the wizard and the sign proclaims: "poof...you are one year older." I sent it in the mail today and forgot to take a picture of the inside. I did make a very similar card a few months ago, but changed up the colors. The Labels 1 die works well for this shaped card. I used shades of blue, and added a layer of gold that shows just a bit .The images are QKR Stampede digis colored with Prismas. 3 "B's"(blue, banner, birthday, back (the last two are on the inside): Pink Gem Shaped card: Creative Craft Cottage Crafty Sentiments
I have been trying to find a way to use a new find - the other day I ran across a roll of felt ribbon at Dollar Tree. It has a solid and a cut out butterfly, but I only used the cut out one. It came in a few different colors, but I chose the mint green - than have had a hard time figuring out a way to incorporate this into a card! It certainly adds dimension, and I know I can also cut away the edging for a different look. The CS is from a Recollection pack, and the DP a piece from a DCWV pad I have had for several years! I used a Darice embossing folder for the butterfly bg. I like this Thank you sentiment from QKR Stampede, and I thought this floral from the sister company Eureka was close to a "bunch" of flowers. Join us this week for a chance to win some great QKR Stampede digis - look herefor more inspiration. You may enter up to 3 times; the deadline is 6 p.m. Eastern time, Thurs.
Image - Eureka; sentiment - QKR Stampede; misc. purple cs; white ribbon, Spellbinder oval dies; butterflypunch; acrylic sticker dot. (I found a great sheet of 117 dots /$1 at the Dollar Tree!). I inked the edges of the sentiment. Trust me, IRL the cs is purple!
Recently I have seen several beautiful cards that feature lovely backgrounds as a base for silhouette images. Some are sponged and some are "squished". I decided to try my hand. I used various Twinkling H20 inks with an aqua pen. I have several colors of this ink but still was somewhat limited - though I am pretty happy with the result. (I painted the base cs in the location where I knew the digi would be printed.)
Digi - Beccy's Place Nell's Cottage; Twinkling H2O ink; Spellbinder circle dies; Cuttlebug embossing folder, SU sentiment (very old!); twine, scrap of DP, green cs. This week the SplitCoastStampers Tea Pot Party cards go to Sue in Canada being treated for an aggressive cancer. She has many interests, including the Canadian Crown Jewels - I understand that is the Canadian version of Red Hatters. So I have a red hat with lots of jewels! I inserted clear gems with the scalloped die cut, gave her some pearls and that huge diamond ring! The DP is Lily of the Valley, and I added rick rack. This packet is marked $.19 - it was in a bundle I got at a yard sale a while ago, and I need to start using it up. You may have seen previous references - I try to do many of the TeaPot Party challenges at SplitCoastStampers. Each week we may send our cards to a recipient in need of cheer. I am late - last week's party was for a police officer seriously injured when he was run over by a fleeing criminal. I did not have anything that worked for suggested themes, so I have used clip art - I am sure this patriotic theme will work. I would encourage you to visit the Tea Party forum and join in to show support for this injured hero. I subbed the Labels4 die for a heart, and double cut both the Thanks and the top mat - I like that way of separating colors for contrast. Once again I used my favorite tool, the die cutting machine, for both embossing and cutting. The black, white and red is another of my favorite combos.
