HB Myril

Another family birthday!  This image is by Delicious Doodles, and seemed to require black and white!  I wanted to do the following sketch, and use this image - so I tried a sort of spotlight, which I am pretty sure succeeds.  I cut the circle outline with two Spellbinder circles.  The sentiment is by Rubber Cafe, and I added a bit of twine..  The swirly embossing is on shimmery silver cs.

We have more birthdays - lots of family events this time of year!  I used this color combo a few days ago and decided to use it again.  Sentiment die by Sizzix, and floral by Tattered lace.

For a teacher - thank you

Whew!  We are close to officially beginning the next phase of our lives.   We just finished emptying and cleaning the motor home, and the new owner is coming tomorrow.  He will spend a few days with us getting accustomed to it.  This will be the first time in over 55 years we have been without a camping vehicle of some kind (well, sort of - we started with a tent).  It is just getting to be kind of a hassle, which would diminish the future enjoyment.  It has been a great time for us, but we are comfortable with this decision.  Who knew how much stuff we could get in that vehicle - and now the challenge is to sort, store and sell those items.
Enough of that....'
This verse is from fivehearthome.  I used some apple DP, and a die for the corner apple and the books.  The other corners were completed with Tear Drops (Freedom set) from Classy Cards 'n Such.
A new technique:  I used a die with many pieces - and separated the apple and the books.

Roses and a kitty

I struggle to color flowers, especially roses, so I  hope this pretty print will work!  I used swirls (white layer) and roses - inspired by the shape of the cupcakes, and some of the colors (Desert Divas challenge).  IRL the colors look much better together - the bottom panel is pink, not lavender.  The image is from A Day for Daisies.  I added pink stickles to the wings.

I am having a hard time keeping up to cards needed for family events in Aug. and Sept - and at least 2 birthday cards to go!  I hope our brother-in-law will not be offended by this - he really is a pretty hard working retiree!  The inside verse - I was going to do something today but I have not finished doing nothing from yesterday!   This is an AI image.  I used a gear folder as well as Happy Birthday.

Belated for Norm

Some irony here - I am late for B-in-L's birthday.  Should have had an alarm clock LOL!  I do not do stitching, so this is probably the ultimate in faux stitches - they are a part of the DP.  I added washi tape, and the image is a digi I have had for a while.

Happy 99th, Aunt Edith

Once again I need a card for a special milestone.  Edith is the last of our parents' generation - DH's aunt.  Her memory is fading, but I hope she will enjoy having her name and the 99 on the card.  IRL, the yellow-gold cs is more subtle than it looks on the screen.  I really like the look of the colored image from Antique Images.  I added a strip of lace just left of the image - not sure it shows up on the screen.

Not sure about this one...

Very rarely do I try to do something totally out of the ordinary - and since the results are not usually very good, that is a wise idea!  However, a couple of inspiration cards did inspire me to try this.  I have quite a bit of mulberry paper (seldom used) - I tried stamping on the blue, but that did not show up at all.  So I salvaged that by placing the stamped side down, and stamped on white mulberry, then tore the edges.  The white is layered on top of the blue, with a white cs base.   IRL it is not nearly as dark as it appears here.  I added a Spellbinder butterfly, with blue mulberry paper under white vellum - cut and embossed,  trimmed with tiny gems.  Stamps by Our Daily Bread.

For Susan (one4Joy)

Late again!  The Tuesday TeaPot gang at SplitCoastStampers is sending cheer to Susan aka one4joy.  She was training for a bike race and had an accident that put an end to that goal.  I immediately thought of this image (Beccy's Place) - I hope it will give her a giggle rather than make her sad for what might have been.  The DP is from a pad by My Mind's Eye, and the Sentiment is Verve.  I  used burlap and flowers by Petaloo to finish.

Adrienne's #4

Here is another card to send to our granddaughter at the Air Force Academy.  I am making cards to send to her so she can, in turn, send them on to her friends.  (More info in the previous post).  This time I am using clip art - which I sponged with chalk for a bit of a vintage look.  I also used  Steampunk EF, by Darice.  The white back of the Paper Studio DP shows through - I had not anticipated this but I like the effect.  I used bits of the You folder (Cuttlebug) for the brown strip.  subtle chalking with different browns add to the grungy look - though it does not show much here.  I had a bit of patriotic ribbon, and a piece of plastic (shelf liner, maybe...) as well as a bit of frizzy stuff for a bow.  It is actually from a package of doll hair.  (Can you tell I am trying to use up some odds and ends? )

Adrienne #3

We just heard from our Granddaughter, who is in her first year as a cadet at the Air Force Academy.  It is a rigorous life, and we are trying to write often - she does have a phone now (after Basic Training) but is limited.  She enjoys my cards, and I am sure she writes to a lot of her friends.  So I will try to send a card each time that she can in turn send to a friend or relative.  (I just purchased a pack of 4.5x6.5 envelopes, so I can enclose a regular A2 card as well as the envelope.  Maybe I can even get 2 cards for the price of one stamp!  LOL!)  Here I used a clip art logo falcon, with a simple design on Kraft cs.

TLC HB

I am trying hard to use some items that have been around for a while but have never made it to one of my cards!  This pre-colored digi is from TLC (Thank you!!).  The strip is part of a bag of goodies from a yard sale.  There were several long paper strips - not sure of the origin but I thought the colors complemented the image and met the color challenge.  I added a scrap of DP that me from a DCWV Spring pad - several years ago.  I have a little envelope stuffed with punched flowers from one of the gals at WishRAK (SplitCoastStampers).  I added some of the clear Tear Drops (Freedom set) from Classy Cards.

HB, Anna

Our granddaughter is in her third year of teaching.  She has first grade in a school located in an area where students and schools do not always have a lot of parental support.  She loves her job, and she certainly has our admiration.  These kids need good role models as well as great teachers. I have had this verse from fivehearthome in my stash and it seems perfect for her card.  The school bus DP is by Recollections.  The embossing is by Embossabilities.   The glittery stars and twine are also from my old stash.

Happy 60th Anniversary

(Sorry for the poor image).  Our good friends will soon celebrate their 60th anniversary.  I had something a bit different in mind - but my doilies seem to be in the bottom of one of the boxes I have not yet unpacked from the motor home.  I had a piece of one, so I used it as the top of a circle, and also as part of the die cut heart.  The glittery gold cs is more subtle than some golds.  I thought I should try to use diamonds rather than gold for a 60th anniversary, but had no ideas for that!  The blessings die is by Cheery Lynn, and the heart and numbers are Cuttlebug.  I added some sheer ribbon to make it more festive.

For a new Kathleen

It is not obvious, but this card is a congratulations card for an SCS friend who recently had a double lung transplant and is starting her new life.  The TeaPot Party gang had a celebration for her.  I am very late, but I did bring some music and singers to continue the festivities.  (Maybe she will need earplugs LOL!!!)  This is a fun image from Art Impressions featuring Betty at the keyboard.  I colored with chalk pencils, and added another tiny bird who seems to be escaping.... The sentiment is Recollections.  The mats and bird are Kraft cs.  As I am unpacking all my stuff from the RV I keep finding hidden treasures, including these clips.  Time to use them!

Thinking of Anthony

Recently a cyber friend (through WishRAK at SplitCoastStampers) posted distressing information about her son.  He is 14, and, briefly, has had surgery for an aneurysm and a hole in his heart.  The prognosis is not good, and he is in need of cheer.  Cards for teen age boys - especially when I do not know them - are difficult - but he probably does texts!
By the way, there is a go fund me account, with more information - http://www.gofundme.com/6eh9hyvbw

Birthday Cupcakes

The image is from my stash - colored with shiny and metallic gel pens.  I added some Washi tape, a sequin with a rain drop center.  It does not seem to show, but I had a bit of an accident with the glue, so used some glitter - on the cake, candles, and flowers of the embossing.  The mats are a favorite cs - Stardream Metallic Neptune, from Classy Cards.

Chalked butterflies

For this entry, I used the image from the Faith set by ODB, and the sentiment from their birthday set.  The Faith set and Spellbinder oval dies are available from the Classy Cards shop.  I used chalk on the embossing to incorporate the colors from the challenge.  I added ribbon and pearls on a wire.  I tried a different approach for coloring - sponged chalk on the image for an undefined look.

Kanban

Wow!  I did not intent to take 10 days off - but we have been busy.  We have returned to our AZ home, in our RV - and now begin a new phase of our life. We have sold the motor home and have so much accumulation to move out - and find space for in the house.  Since it is about 110 every day, we try to do the moving before 8 a.m. - then organize what we can.  By the end of the day I have lost any ambition so card making has gone by the wayside.  Since I am addicted to sketches I could not let this one slip by!  I hope I have time to add the second one I have completed as well.
One thing I am learning - we have way too much stuff.  I need to use as much of my card making supplies as I can.  I purchased this kit when presented on create and craft, on TV - I think I recall the company is Kanban.  There are pretty items - but I think enough to make hundreds of cards!!!  I used the punch out pieces on a HB embossed bg, and added sequins and ric rac.

Happy 50th

Once again, friends have asked for a card for their friends.  They requested a sail boat and palm trees.  I am getting to the end of my supplies in the RV (we go back to our home soon), so I am having to make to a little!  The image is from Digi Darla - with hand written names, per request - the couple and their two daughters.  The sentiment is SU, as is the light house.  I masked a bit of the ocean, and "stamped off" the light house - stamped on another paper, for a lighter effect.  The palm tree dp frame represents their Florida residence.  The ribbon and die cut 50 are glittery - for their golden anniversary.  The card is 5x7.

Birthday, masculine

I left my stamp at the house for the summer - I think this is Hampton Art, colored with Prismas.  I always think of Tuscany when I see this sunny scene - I beleve the movie title is "Under the Tuscan Sun".  I used the distressed stripes EF to resemble the soil, and used a piece of the same to frame the image.  I added the Sizzix sentiment and a LifeStyle shape behind the Basic Grey chipboard button.

Shimmery stripes

This is definitely based on the inspiration card at Verve - Julee Tilman created a different take on the sketch and I wanted to try her version.  I started with the CB birthday embossing.  I have lots of neglected Twinkling H20 inks, so I selected an aqua - IRL it adds a nice shimmer.  The mat and butterfly are cut from Stardream Metallic cs (Emerald green) which is available at Classy Cards.  Small clear crystals decorate the Cheery Lynn butterfly.

Card #1 for Adrienne

I will eventually be making a series of cards for our granddaughter - she finishes basic training at the Air Force Academy today.  She has had (extreme) limitations on contacts but I think now I can send cards - only letters before!  She is a cat lover and probably one of the toughest things for her is to leave her cat behind!
Except for the Unity greeting, all of these items are from my stash - not sure of origins.  Does any one recognize the cat?  The polka dot strip is Washi tape.

Happy 29th????

These Art Impressions images and sentiments always crack me up!  I am sure they are out of doors - wonder what is behind them for the selfie?
