Kraft and blue

Blue is one of my favorites to go with kraft - works well for a fishing image!  I have lots of the "sky/water" dp - received as a gift.  I do not like to discard even small bits - the strip behind the leafy MS punch is the edge from a 12x12 piece of brown cs.  I thought maybe you could imagine that punch looks a bit like waves... The stamp is an old one from Embossing Arts.  This will be for a family member - lots of fishermen!

Kraft and Green

I flipped the sketch to be able to use this stamp - from the ODP Birthday set.  The DP is DCWV, and the embossing is Victoria by Cuttlebug.  I used two Martha Stewart leaf punches - the border and the corner one.

Framed, in purple and white

It seems that I need a lot of sympathy cards.  A favorite combination is purple and white.  This is a digital image from Sweet 'n Sassy, colored with watercolor pencils.  I added the Cheery Lynn butterfly, and framed with a Cuttlebug embossed frame.  The paper from my stash is Recollection and Paper Studio. The sheer ribbon is Paper Pizzazz - also some I have had for some time - a nice big roll!

Twin birthdays

Late in August I need several birthday and anniversary cards for family members - and I feel like I am running out of ideas!  This is for a BIL who is a twin - his sister's card will appear next!  The papers come from a DCWV pad called Heirlooom - lots of good masculine looks here.  I have enjoyed this sentiment from QKR - pretty apt!  The Blessing sentiment is from Cheery Lynn.

butterfly

This butterfly die cut came in a kit - with some of these papers.  I used a punch for the white strip, and the gold diagonal is the negative from a sheet of narrow gold stickers.  The circles are from Spellbinders. I added a sentiment after I put the image in my folder. The stickers, ribbon and gems have been in my stash for a long time, and the butterfly and papers are new.

Red & white thank you

I have a lot of catching up to do - had made some cards for challenges then ran out of time to add them to my blog.  (We are back home now - we thoroughly enjoy our summer in the motor home, but having to go to the club house for phone and internet is a bit of a hassle...)  At any rate, I am liking the red and white - I used CB's argyle folder for the bg, and stamped in red as well.  I seldom use colored ink - I need to rethink that habit.  The message is from Cuttlebug's Olivia alpha set - sort of a bonus die.

Golden wedding

This is a card for the 50th anniversary of friends.  I had to use some odds and ends I happened to have with me - all but the image are items Ihave had for several years.  For the special occasion I made a 5.5x8.5 card.  There is a strip of lace acress the center.  I used half pearls and some die cuts to complete this.  The image is from a freebie website - I think the name is antique images.

Die cuts and a doily

We are nearing the end of our summer stay in the motor home - I have lots of supplies left, but often not exactly what I want - so my more recent cards are kind of "leftovers" - LOL!  This is a burgundy base that came in a box of items at a yard sale.  I really like the item, but am unsure what to do with the inside.. this time I used a verse printed on white,  and chalked the edges.  I found a doily and a few stray half pearls.  The border is from the Cheery Lynn leafy die - one of the staples I use for a variety of trims.

Lots of birds

This is a cute embossing folder - a friend shared a few pieces of cs using it - and I am just ow getting around to using it!  The scalloped bit is the edge of a piece of cs - I had trimmed it off as I did not think the edge worked for a card - but the scrap was great to use for this sketch:

Our granddaughter will be starting her second year of teaching elementary school, and her birthday is soon.  I thought she might appreciate the whimsy of this!  The image is a pre colored digi from Dearie dolls.   I added a strip of Washi tape - the only one I brought along this summer.  (I am looking forward to being able to choose from all of  the supplies I left behind in the house - I packed a lot in the RV, but not always just what I would like to use!

For Gordon's brother-in-law

Here is another special request card.  Gordon wants a gag card for his brother-in-law who has a running feud with squirrels and geese - they are definitely not friends in his yard!  Talk about serendipity - another fellow RVer, Eva, heard our conversation about this. She is a great wild life photographer, and offered to put together a photo of both animals - great look, right?  She even added the gag caption.  Thank you, Eva - of course, I did not have stamps that would have worked.  And thanks, SSW, for the sketch that was just right!  I did the caption on the computer, ad hand wrote "friends".

New flower

This is a color combo (red and yellow) that I enjoy - one of my favorites, though I do not use it a lot - takes just the right shades, it seems.  I have had this little set of clear stamps for a long time, but this is my first use - I do not do well with putting pieces together - here, the flower outline and added polka dots, the stem, and the leaves.  It is a good thing nature does not always produce perfect plants - this certainly needs some work!  I embossed the red and yellow panels after gluing them together, then added some spellbinder scrolls.  (I would like more delicate scrolls - I am trying to limit purchases - but maybe I should add this to my wish list))

A true friend

I think this is a great verse.  This is the first it has seen ink!  The DP is a gift from a friend, and the flower has been in my stash a long time.  I used white core paper to emboss,(and sanded it a bit) for the layer under the sentiment - but, alas, the sentiment just about covers it!

Black and white is a favorite combination, and I often use if for sympathy cards.   This Scripture is from Verve.

As Time Goes by

I wasn't sure how this would work out, but I am satisfied with the result.  The sentiment is a freebie from TLC (thank you!). The time stamp is Inkadinkado, I think.  The red strip is embossed with a border folder from Cuttlebug - I had some white core paper and sanded it a bit more.  I sponged both image panels, though the original images had a bit of the distressed look  I also distressed the edges.

A couple of hobos

This card has a long story...   During the summer, I have earned a reputation (at our RV park) for making "cards to order".  One of my regular customers requested a card with a hobo... It seems she and her uncle were with a group, shopping, and the two of them needed a rest.  They sat at a bench, and decided they looked like hobos sitting there.  I managed to find a clip art photo with the label hobos - the hard part was to get the younger female - so this is the best I could do.  I distressed the card a bit, and added poppy red ink to the Sizzix embossing folder (brick) to add to the aged look.  I added a computer label, and attached the negative of the Cheery Lynn fence die.  I forget who makes the letters - guess I should have staggered them for effect.  I used some blue glitter cs for the letters and the fence, and a bit of plaid ribbon as well.

HB, Norm

I needed a quick card so I could mail it today!  After about 10 years of making cards for family, I hope I find new images each year - LOL  This is from SU Coast to Coast - an older set that I got not long ago at a yard sale.  I really do not need more stamps - but who can resist a bargain such as this!  I acquired a number of sheets of the "water/sky" bg paper as part of a gift - so I can use it a lot.  I use Kraft cs for the die cut panel and the tiny circles. As for the challenge of using what is on the table - that gives me a lot of freedom as the craft table is pretty cluttered right now.  Ink, dies, stamp - and the cs was right at hand

HB Marilyn

My friend really likes black and white - she buys quite a few from me - so this worked well!  I used a variety of embossing folders, including just one line from the CB happy birthday  I stamped the second circle in grey to look a bit like a shadow. - and flipped it to the other side because of the shape of the stamp.  It is from a set from SU - I can never recall the names, and I am not home right now to check.

I am using this sketch a lot - so many options!  The stamp is by Verve - quite new to me.  The rest of the supplies have been in my stash forever!  As for the ribbon - I bought it at a yard sale a couple of years ago, and I think the owner had had it for many years.  Here is another solution for using the birthday folder designed for portrait style.. I embossed the right part of the layer with the birthday greeting, and filled in the left side with the snowflake, which I pretend is a sunburst!

I do not often use greens, but there wI a learning to like them! These pieces are glittery and sparkly, and I added some green jewels. .   I saw the challenge to use a song for inspiration - when I saw this image I could not get the kid's song (I'm a Little Teapot, Short and Stout") out of my head!  50 years ago, when our kids were little, they had a record with this and similar songs - no videos back then LOL!

On the road this summer

This gave me a chance to use some of the stamps in a set that I have almost never used - I just. seem to keep running out of time!  A note on the design - I used chalk to highlight the embossing.  For the bg, I chalked the folder, and for the sentiment I chalked the cs.  Also, as I was preparing to emboss the Happy Birthday strip I noticed a scrap of white on the table - decided to go with the torn edge look and use that tiny scrap!
