Sympathy

FYI - the bg  color is aubergine (eggplant).  tattered lace die;  Cheery Lynn butterfly; Tattered Lace DP; Spellbinder circle dies.

Agnes celebrates an 80th birthday

A friend needs an 80th birthday card, and this will be one of her options.  Agnes is one of my favorite AI images.  This time I paper pieced her dress and purse to match the bg.  I have learned that choosing the right DP for the dress is important - and it is important to position the tiny designs correctly!  By the way, I am using this for a couple of "spring" challenges - looks like she has her whole spring garden on her head.  For dazzle I have used a number of metallic pens - especially for the shoes, jewelry, and for the edging on the dress.  The polka dot bg is washi tape, and the wider deep rose strip is from a Spellbinder die which embosses.  The numbers are Cuttlebug Olivia.

Sympathy - in greens

Inspiration by Vicki Dutcher
A friend needs sympathy cards so I will try to have a selection for her.  The image and all layers are shades of green - despite what the long panel looks like.  This is an image from SU that has been in my stash a long time - from a member of Splitcoaststampers WishRAK group.  Sorry, I have forgotten the name.
Once again, I used Vicki's card for the inspiration challenge at Stamplorations.

Black & White and music

Whew!  we have had two sets of guests this past wee- all family and the visits are great.  However, we are so used to being the two of us - so it seems a bit more tiring than usual!  Now I have several orders of cards to fill and several gaps to fill in in my stash!  One of the challenges below is to be inspired by a song.  We watched the behind the scenes of Sound of Music a couple of weeks ago - recorded it and showed it our guests.  Guess what music is running through my head!  Even DH said he is internally humming the tunes!  So this is kind of a generic inspiration of that movie - one of our all time favorites.

For Evelyn's 85th - shiny Spring butterflies

A friend from church is celebrating her birthday this week end, and I hope I have made a special card for such a special occasion.  For the YNS sketch I flipped and rotated the elements, but I think it is true enough to the original. The die cut is Floral Panel by Tattered Lace; the butterfly embossing by Darice; Swiss Dots by Cuttlebug, and there is a bit from the Embossibilities birthday folder.  The butterfly is part of a favorite SU set, Ageless Adornment.  To get the color I wanted I mixed 3 of Twinkling H20 blues.  The cream cs is Recollections champagne shimmer, and the blue is from a DCWV metallic pad (part of my long term stash!!)

Mixed dies for Deb

I have been wanting to experiment with this new die set from Couture Creations - the Mariposa Collection.  The border at the left is cut from the shimmery burgundy layer.  The butterfly and small branch are also part of the set.  Birthday is from a Sizzix Happy Birthday die, and Blessings is by Cheery Lynn.  All of these are cut from silver shimmer cs (Recollections).  I added white half pearls (Pizzazz Aplenty).  Oh, yes, I added a second layer for the butterfly - in champagne, offset slightly.  If anyone has seen tutorials for using these dies please let me know!   This is for our daughter - her birthday is later this week.  She will be visiting, along with our son-in-law and granddaughter.

Couture Maricopa prototype

This opens in the middle - gate fold.
(The white base is not visible).   I recently ordered a die set from Couture Creations, called Mariposa.  This set is designed to be used as the closure on gate fold cards - but now I need directions as I cannot quite figure out how to put them together.  I ultimately used the smaller butterfly with small glue dots to hold the two sides together.  The base is a dark burgundy shimmery cs.

B&W for Hal

This is a bit late for Hal's birthday celebration - so I used the Blessings by Cheery Lynn instead of a Happy Birthday.  Image by TLC;  gears embossing folder from Darice; misc papers.  I used a double row of Washi tape for the long strip.  I have learned that it works better for me to adhere the tape to a strip of white cs- the pattern is clearer that way.

Butterfly sympathy card

A few days ago I happened to see a friend who purchases a lot of my cards.  She bought all of the sympathy cards I had left - so now I need to fill that void.
To color this Our Daily Bread image I used a technique I have gotten away from - I loaded my aqua pen directly from water color pencils.  The sentiment is computer generated.  The DP is by Anna Griffen - from my hoarded stash - time to cut into some of those pieces!  The butterfly embossing folder is by Darice; circle dies by Spellbinder.  You may purchase the Faith set (ODB) at classy cards.

Supplies:  the image is from a website full of freebies - called Antique Images (thank you!); sentiment from Verve; DCWV and misc dp and cs' Petaloo flowers.

ODB scripture

Our Daily Bread is hosting a special challenge - use their scripture. I wanted to try a slightly different take on my Spellbinder Majestic Elements ovals - I really like the dies but have found them difficult to actually use.  For example, these sizes are a bit too large for the card, but I will go with it.  I used regular ovals for stamping, and to mat behind the open work.    The embossing folder is by Darise; flowers by Petaloo, and papers by misc!!

A former member of our church was called home over night.  They were active in Bible Studies and other activities. Phyllis, with her great attitude during her serious illness, will be missed.  This is a card I made to take to our group this morning so others could sign it.  I made it 4.5x6.5.

Inside and Out

I had this stamp out and decided to use it again - I do not often use the same image right away!  I also do not often do more than put a verse on the inside of cards - thanks to the challenge, I am stretching a bit!  For the inside I used materials from a kit from Kanban (Lovely in Lace).  It did not reproduce well, but the color is a pale teal to match one of the stripes on the front.
Other supplies:  stamps by Unity; Die-Namics grass die; Doodlebug DP. Pizzazz Aplenty cord, shiny Fiskars metallic pens, glitter to give a sparkly look to the grass.

Lots of green

I thought I should say in the title that this is green!  It certainly does not look green on my screen.  The base is what I would call kelly green, and the bg of the white swirls is kind of a dusky green.  That piece, by the way, is preprinted - another item from the Kamdam Lovely in Lace set.  (It was a huge set and there will be a lot of it - kind of nice for fairly quick cards.)  I fussy cut (well, sort of) along the right edge so IRL there is a bit of texture there.  The Scripture is a freebie from Word Art, cut with Labels4. The gems are pale green Rain drops (top left).

Marsala

Items from Lovely in Lace set by Kanban.  I was particularly intrigued by the current challenge at The Paper Girls.  Apparently, a hot new color is Marsala - a new term for me.  I know that color on the screen is not always true - but it certainly looks like the base color I used.  Since I (inadvertently) recently purchased a couple of packs of cs this color - now I can use it confidently, knowing I am in style LOL!!!  It goes well with these Lovely in Lace items.  the focal point is a punch out spray of flowers, with the floral bg.  I trimmed a bit around each piece, to allow the solid base to show through.  You may notice that the inner section has intentionally uneven edges - hard to cut, so I roughed them a bit for contrast.  I added a tiny button brad.

Springtime birthday

I usually color the watering can a silver or grey - I kind of like the yellow!  The image (Our Daily Bread) is colored with a variety of inks, pens and pencils, to get the desired colors - which do not display well on the screen.  The flowers that look shades of lilac are really shades of pink.   Blessings die is by Cheery Lynn.

HB, Peggy

This is for a friend who has difficulty seeing.  I hope the texture and big letters will enable her to see this.  I also used a very large font for the inside greeting.
Supplies:  circle dies;  Cuttlebug Olivia letters; Embossalicious HB embossing folder; chalk, flowers from my never ending Petaloo collection; half pearls; black grosgrain ribbon.

Erika is 80

A friend asked me to make a card for her sister who is going to be 80.  She wants something special and I hope this will be ok.  I have lots of cards saved on Pinterest and got some inspiration there.
Supplies:  Floral frame die by Tattered Lace; Leaves embossing - Sizzix; Floral embossed strip - Cuttlebug border; sentiment - Our Daily Bread; letters - maybe LifeStyle?; numbers - Cuttlebug; sheer ribbon; Petaloo flowers, tiny black beads.  I used some shimmery cs for the floral die panel.

Happy March!

WOW!  This year is already about 1/6 over!  Where does the time go...
First of all, my apologies for an Oops... will have to fix this one!  The embossing folder has images going in different directions, but not upside down!  I grabbed the layer and started adding tape - not paying attention to the direction.  No time to work on it any more now as we have to leave early for church....
Supplies:  Misc cs, stamp by CraftSmart;  SU sentiment (very old!);  markers; orange gem, Washi tape.
