blue stencilling

For some reason, when I use different shades of blue, the results are disappointing to me - as in this card.  I should have used a different color for the stenciled bg.  I did use a favorite ODB set, however.  For a stencil, I used something that has been in my supply  drawer for a long time.  A local store (now closed) was generous with make and takes, and I learned a lot from the owner - named Dorothy!  She cut A2 sized "stencils" from some type of light plastic sheets - I purchased a set of about 6 designs.  When I "discovered" pattern paper, and then embossing folders, I kind of forgot about useing these stencils - but I certainly like the effect, if not the color!  I sponged with chalk - trying to go lighter toward the center.

Well, Dorothy, you know we are our own worst critics, right? I LOVE your shades of blue (my favorite color), and I love your stenciling. This is one of my favorite ODBD stamps too, and I think the birthday girl will love this card!! So glad you've joined us once again this week for the ODBD Shining the Light challenge! It's always a joy to see one of your cards! Hugs, sweet friend!

Hello Dorothy,
The stencilling is fabulous as the Bg, and although you are not happy with the palette it still works. Your dark Blue grabs the eye, all you need to do perhaps is to darken up your centre panel a titch for it to pop...... just a suggestion.
Thanks very much for joining us at CVC this month, I hope you will participate next month also.
Smiles:)
Sue
